Letter To Editor Os The Herald To The Editor: Some recent events have shown the wisdom of North Cardlinians in rejecting the Equal Rights Amendment. Most of the candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor have voiced support for the ERA amendment. One candidate for Lt. Governor, Representative John Jordan, voted against this amendment when it came before the 1975 General Assembly. ERA would take away from women many of the rights they now enjoy, and it is for this reason that probably a majority of women themselves oppose this amendment. John Jordan, son of the late B. Everette Jordan and Democrat candidate for Lt. Governor, deserves our thanks for voting against ERA. The voters should seek out the positions of all the candidates on this issue. Bobby Simpson Newton Grove Mbs Morris Governor’s Page Melanie Morris, a ninth grade student at Chowan Academy, will serve as a Governor’s page the week of June 7-11. Mrs. Patty Stimmel coordinates this program. Molanip is a member of the ninth grade government class and the Chowan Academy Bicentennial Committee.
