Wednesday, June 23,1976 in the Adminstrative Conference Room at Chowan Hospital, Inc. and immediately thereafter publicly opened and read for the furnishing of labor, materials, and equipment entering into the Health Education Center Addition for Chowan Hospital, Inc., Edenton, N.C. Separate bids will be received for the General Construction, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Work. Complete plans, specifications, and contract documents will be open for inspection in the office of the Administrator for Chowan Hospital, Inc., Edenton, N.C., in the office of the Architect, in the offices of the Associated General Contractors, Carolina Branch in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Greensboro, N. C., and in the local North Carolina office of F. W. Dodge Corporation in Raleigh, N. C., and in the Virginia office of F. W. Dodge Corporation in Norfolk, Virginia, or may be obtained by those qualified and who will make a bid upon deposit of sixty-five dollars ($65) in cash or certified check. The., full deposit will be returned to those submitting a bona fide proposal provided plans and specifications are returned to the Architect in good condition within (5) days after the date set for receiving bids. Sub contractors, manu facturers, and material dealers will have the cost of reproduction, handling, and mailing deducted from their deposit check. The required work under Base Bid shall consist of the furnishing of all materials and labor to construct a Health Education Center Additon of approximately 4,500 square feet to the existing hospital which will be one-storey, poured-in place concrete floor and roof structure, interior and exterior partitions and walls being of steel studs with plaster, exterior finish of face brick, aluminum ehtrance doors, frames, and windows, and lightweight roof insulation with built-up roof. The interior finishes shall consist of carpet, terrazzo, ceramic tile, sheet vinyl floor covering, plastered walls with an alternate for vinyl wall coverings, and acoustical tile ceilings. The mechanical work will coordinate with the existing facilities and shall be heated and air-conditibned. Some site work will be required such as demolition, storm drainage, and paving. Alternate Bids shall be received for the pavingßparking areas and exterior site lighting. All contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper license under the state laws governing their respective trades. General Contractors are notified that Chapter 87, Article i, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. Plumbing and Heating Contractors are notified that Chapter 87, Article 2, General Statutes‘of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding plumbing and heating contracts. Said deposit shall be retained by the owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten (10) days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. Performance And Payment Bond will be required for one hundred (100) per cent of the contract price. Payment will be made on the basis of ninety (90) per cent of monthly estimates and final payment made thirty (30) days after completion and final acceptance of the work. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of thirty (30) days. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
