Last year 70,094 students were granted diplomes. According to MIS projections, the number of graduates is expected to fluctuate between 70,000 and riHJ-; s‘* Ws§WWlM^:<^ Robert Edward Lee II 72,000 during the next four years. In 1980, however, the number of graduates is expected to begin a gradual decline, decreasing to 62,494 students by 1985. The trend over the past 10 years in North Carolin’s public schools has been toward fewer and larger high schools.
