Rev. Rev. Milton T. Mann performed the double ring ceremony. Wedding music was presented by Miss Caroline - Wright, organist, and Mrs. Ray Kirby, solist. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd A. Lane of Hertford. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and ; Mrs. Reynold L. Mosley, Sr., of Route 1, Edenton. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white gown of jersey knit. Hie empire bodice, with bib yoke front of cameo brussells, lace, embellished with seed pearls, featured a high neck with some lace. Tlie long papered sleeves had lace trimmed, cuffs. The elbow length veil wot edged in lace and the % heaflpiece lavishly covered with pearls. Miss Peggy James Copeland, of Hertford, was Maid of Honor. Reynold L. Mosley, Jr. of Moßock, N. C. served as his broker's best man. ‘ presently employed with the Town of Edenton. Mr. Edmundson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Caswell Edmundson of Edenton. He is presently attending Wake Technical Institute in Raleigh where he will receive his Associate Degree in Business Data Processing in August. An August 29 wedding has been planned. Ushers were Durward F. Reed, Jr. and Mrs. Patrick Harrell. Mrs. Marjorie P. Fields directed the wedding. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride entertained at a reception for family and close friends at their home in Hertford. The bride is a graduate of Perquimans County High School. The groom is a graduate of Chowan High School. Following a wedding trip to the Outer Banks, the couple will make their home in Edenton. My Neighbors rfOße a * % Dr. Gray Back Sunday Dr. Robert E. Gray, pastor of Edenton Baptist Church, will return to the pulpit Sunday after an absence of two weeks. He and 13 members from the church will return tonight (Thursday) from Arizona. The group conducted a Bible School on the Navajo Indian Reservation. Special music at both worship services will be provided by the Sanctuary Choir. At the 11 o’clock morning worship the choir will render “This Is My Country” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth”. The anthem at the evening service will be “0 That Will Be Glory”. For And About Women Thursday, July 1, 1976 Stanton-Swindell Vows Solemnized Miss Suzanne Elizabeth Stanton and W. Larry Swindell were united in marriage Saturday at 2 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church in Hertford. Officiating were the Rev. Minton T. Mann and Father Joseph J. Klaus. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. William E. Stanton of Arlington, Va. and Mr. and Mrs. Marion S. Swindell of Hertford. Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. William R. McDuffie, organist, and Robert McDuffie, violinist, aunt and counsin of the groom of Macon, Georgia. The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, WOQ6 a full length gown of silk organza and imported Peau-d’ange lace. Her dress was fashioned with a lace empire bodice, a portrait neckline edged with delicate blossoms of Venise lace and Bishop sleews with wide lace cuffs. Her chapel length train featured a deep “V” effect of Peau-de-ange lace wich fell into a border of lace completely encircling the hemline of her flowing skirt and chapel train. She wore a fingertip length mantilla edged with matching lace and carried a nosegay of white, daisies, blue carnations and baby’s breath. Her only ornament was a pendant belonging to her paternal grandmother. Attending her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. Tom Holland of Marion, Indiana. She wore a gown of blue dotted swiss fashioned with a ruffled V neckline and empire waist which was accented with blue satin ribbon forming a bow with streamers falling to the ruffled hemline. She carried a nosegay of pink, blue and yellow daisies. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Ronnie M. Barnard of Suffolk, Va. and Miss Nancy Elizabeth Swindell of Hertford, sisters of the groom, Mrs.- William Barber of Plymouth and Mrs. Rod Wetherell of Woodbridge, Va. Their gowns and nosegays were identical to that of the honor attendant. Junior bridesmaid, Miss Tracy Holland, and flower girl, Miss Jennifer Holland, nieces of the bride off Marion, Indiana, wore dresses fashioned like those of the bridesmaids and carried baskets of pink, blue and yellow daisies. Mr. Swindell served as best man for his son. Greemsmen were Michael Stanton, brother of the bride of Hilton Head Island, S. C., Ronnie M. She wore matching accessories and a pink cymbidium orchid corsage. The groom’s mother wore a full length gown of mint green quiana fashioned with a mandarin collar, full length chiffon sleeves and a self belt. She wore matching accessories and a cymbidium orchid corsage. Mrs. J. H. Thigpen, grandmother of the groom, of Windsor, wore a dress of pink crepe polyester accented with English lace and full length chiffon sleeves. She wore white accessories,and a corsage of white carnations. Following a reception given by the bride’s parents in the social hall of the church, the couple left for a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, New York. Upon their return they will make their home in Edenton. The bride, who is a teacher of social studies at Perquimans County High School, is a graduate of East Carolina University where she is now doing her graduate work. The groom is a graduate of the College of the Albemarle and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. A licensed embalmer and funeral director, he is associated with his father in Swindell-Bass Funeral Home in Edenton and Swindell Funeral Home in Hertford. A cook-out at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Long on June 10 was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Long and Mr. and Mrs. Preston Morgan. A floating miscellaneous shower was given by Mrs. Ward Miller, Mrs. Grover Sloop and Mrs. Kenneth Bateman at the Miller Home on June 18. The bride was honored at a tea on June 19 at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Lane. Hostesses were Mrs. Lane, Mrs. D. F. Reed, Jr., Mrs. Francis Nixon, Mrs. Bill Cox, Mrs. W. A. A Coke Hour was given on June 21 by Mrs. Douglas Umphlett and Mrs. Archie Miller at the Umphlett home. Mrs. Pat Harrell and Mrs. Bill Barber entertained the bride at a miscellaneous shower on June 22 at the home of Mrs. Harrell. The faculty and staff of Perquimans County High School honored the bride at a party and presented her with a silver water pitcher. The bachelor’s party was given by Paul Smith, Sr. and Paul Smith, Jr., on June 24 at the Smith Cottage on the Perquimans River. The groom’s parents hosted a dinner for the wedding party and out of town guests prior to the rehearsal on June 25. Miss Carr Sets Date In August SUFFOLK, Va —Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carroll Carr, Sr., of Suffolk, announce the engagement of their daughter, Nancy Jean, to Robert Louis Greene, Jr. Mr. Greene is the son of Mr. Greene, Sr., of Suffolk and Mrs. L. A. Dees of Edenton, N. C. Miss Carr is a 1976 graduate of Chowan College and is employed by Union Camp Corporation of Franklin. Mr. Greene is a 1976 graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College. The wedding is planned for August 28 at Holland Baptist Church. Society News Mrs. Lois Hook of Eden spent the past week visiting her mother Mrs. Helen Byrum of Edenton. Mrs. W. S. Morris returned home after spending some time with her sister Mrs. Mildred E. Smith of Panama City, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilkins have returned after visiting relatives in New England. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fry and Mike returned home Saturday after vacationing in Wrightsville Beach. Mrs. Ada C. Barringer has just returned from a three weeks vacation visiting her sister, Judy Cozzen and a friend Miss Mary Schmid in Pasadena, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Katkoveck attended the Wolfpack Old Timers game held in Reynolds Colisium in Raleigh Friday night. Mr. Katkaveck was a 1947-48 All American Basketball Guard. The following day they attended a reunion of old friends in Roanoke Rapids and were-guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Akers. Preston Cayton will spend 10 days at Niagara Falls and Canada visiting John Grecco family. They plan to attend Canada’s celebration on July 4th in honor of America Bicentennial. He will return home on July 8. Local Jaycees Honored During National Meeting Several North Carolina Jaycees have just returned from their national convention held in Indianapolis, Ind. Frank Zichell of Texas was elected national president after a marathon election for 35 hours. He defeated Jim Leonhardt of Wisconsin and Dave Bell of 100 lowa. Joe Hollowed of Edenton, N. C. Jaycee president received the Clint Dunagan Award which recognizes top regional directors in the nation. In addition, Roger Brickhouse was among the top finalist in the Keyman I competition. News From Merry Hill By Ethel Winborne Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Baker spent Sunday at Chesapeake with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baker and son. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Love made a trip to Wingate last week and spent several days; as his father Sam Love was very ill. Claude Bowen of the U.S.A. at Arlington Va. and two sons, John and Wayne and L. I. Bowen of Windsor visited Mrs. Ethel Winborne on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Jailey and children Stacey and April of Newport News were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith wick. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Keeter and son, Eddie, of Hampton were at their home here for the past weekend. Mr. Hill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Spencer Hill of Charlotte. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Bennie Crawford. Nupital music was provided by Mrs. Larry Smith, organist; Mr. Alton Elmore, solist; and Mr. Frank Cox, trumpeter. The church was highlighted by a brass candlelabra in the center of the stage with lighted yellow candles. The A-line skirt featured a chapel train bordered with matching lace. Complimenting the gown, a mantilla of English silk illusion appliqued and bordered with alencon lace. She carried a bridal cascade of white roses, fresh greens and sprigs of baby’s breath. Mrs. Walter Wilkening, sister of the groom, of Miami, Fal. was matron of honor. The other attendants were Mrs. Roger Thaler, sister of the groom, of Williamsburg, Va., Mrs. Spencer Hill, sister-in-law of the groom, of Greenville, Mrs. William Loy of Greenville, and Miss Bonnie Conger, of Charlotte. Mr. Thomas Spencer Hill, father of the groom was best man. The ushers were Mr. Thomas Spencer Hill, Jr., brother of the groom, of Greenville; Mr. Frederick Roger Thaler, of Williamsburg, Va.; Mr. Thomas Collins Cross of Raleigh, and Mr. Richard McHenry, of Charlotte. The bride’s mother wore a gown of rainbow colors of nylon chiffon fashioned with a matching cape. She carried a green cymbidium orchid on her purse. The groom's mother wore a peach colored chiffon dress and complimented by a cymbidium orchid. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Chowan Golf and Country Club. The bride is a graduate of East Carolin University, where she received a B. S. Degree in Early Childhood Education. She is employed by the Edenton-Chowan School System and currently working toward an M.A. Degree in Education at East Carolina University. The bridegroom is also a graduate of East Carolina University, where he received a B. S. Degree in Correctional Services. He is President of Pembroke Marina, Inc. and currently employed by the Perquimans County Dept, of Social Services. Mrs. Thomas C. Cross served as mistress of ceremony. After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Edenton. The bridal party and out of town guests were entertained at a rehearsal dinner, given by the groom's parents, at Soundview Restaurant on June 25. A bridesmaid luncheon was given in Greenville by Mrs. Spencer Hill and Mrs. Roger Thaler at Mrs. Hill’s home. A luncheon was given for the wedding party and out of town guests on Saturday June 26, by Mr. and Mr. Thoites Cross and Mrs. and Wora Spencer.
