Thursday, October 14. 1876 Bandon Notebook Continued From Page 1 Va. last Thursday and is steadily improving; Deacon Clarence Barnes was released Monday from Chowan Hospital, and Mr. Fred Jolly is still in need of prayer. Please add our friends to your prayer list. Bible Study will be at 7:30 P. M. Wednesday in Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited. The BCWG meets on Thursday from 10 A. M. to 2 P. M. Come out and join in the fellowship. Certificates for Perfect attendance for the month of September were presented by Dr. Bill to Larry, Randy and W. D. Hardison, children of Mr. and Mrs. Wilie Hardison. “Happy Birthday” was sung by all in honor of Mrs. Evelyn Jolly and Mrs. Winnie Bottoms as they put their contributions in our Birthday Bank. The topic for our Juniors, taught by Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Beach, was “God Corrects People”, based on Gen. 4. When people do wrong, God corrects them and shows them the right way. Aim was the the student may accept God’s correction willingly. “Reconciled Through Jesus Christ”, scripture Romans 5:1-11, was the subject for our Adults, taught by Mrs. Margaret Bunting. A person recon ciled with God through JeSus Christ can rejoice in sufferings, knowing that tribulation can lead to hope. Aim was that adult Christians learn to face troubles with confidence because God loves them and is at work in their lives. Dr. W. J. B. Livingston’s inspiring message was entitled “How To Let God Breakthrough In Our Lives”, based on Acts 10. There is away of looking at life which I think is essential from the positive side. (He holds up a glass half filled with water.) Some people would say this glass is “half full” while those looking on the negative side would say it was “half-empty”. We have a tendency to look at the half-empty part of life - dwell upon the seamy, sordid and ugly. Satan likes to see you down and feeling no good so he gets us to look on the half empty part of life. Life for someone like this is just about folded up. Recently, I talked with someone who felt this way. When I left that individual, I felt down. Then, a bit later, I talked lo someone who looked up at the half full part of life and it put the stars back in my life. Cornelius was a man who looked at the half-full part of life. He lived in the city of Caesarea, a prosperous seaport. It was a beautiful - magnificant - up to date in every way- running water in homes - and, the sewer system was a marvel! Sin was also rampart - anything the worldly wanted. Cornelius lifted his mind above the junk pile of life. He was a devout man, he and his household feared God, he gave much alms to the poor and prayed to God always. Cornelius was a “godly IM HOUSES: 3,4, and 5 bedroom. ; j Located in and out of j town, on Sound and B9W|| overlooking Sound. LOTS: aw*" I Waterfront and other. RENTALS: Ifctea. J .Sorry, none available I I this week. Visit or Call Nelson P.Chears »■ REALTOR »w K. Kind St. Edwiton *. * I (919) 482-8284, 482-8302 man”. We sometimes see “godly people” as gloomy people who lode on the negative or sad part of any situation. That is not Jesus’ idea of being godly. Godly people are happy, like to joke, go fishing, look at the birds - they are full of fun and love. They are honest - pay their bills on time. They are honest and generous towards God and others. Generosity comes back in many ways. A “godly person” is a powerful person. What Cornelius did we can do. He began to drink of the fountain of the Lord. He spent much time in prayer and communion with God, resulting in a breakthrough for jews and gentiles. We need a personal ex perience with God’s angel - a breakthrough to God. Count your blessing one by one. You will become someone through whom God can work. —O— The “Special Collection” taken for our missionnaries David, Linda and little Becky Smith in Guine Bissau, W. Africa, was very gratifying. We know they will be thankful that God is still taking care of their needs. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Marion E. Nelson of Snug Harbor who passed away last Friday. He and his wife, Freida, were frequent visitors to Bandon Chapel. His absence will be a loss to all of us. Covered Dish Supper Friday Night! It will be in Fellowship Hall at 6:30 P. M., with Mrs. Trudy Lapham as Hostess. Bring your favorite dish or dishes and join in an evening of good food, fun and fel lowship. Music for both services was furnished by Mrs. Hilda Strictland at the piano and Mrs. Margaret Bunting at the organ. Annually the earth travels 600 million miles through space.
