The couple honeymooned in New Orleans and now reside in Edenton. Couple Marks 50th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Robert Golden are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary November 24. Mr. Golden retired in May, 1970, from F. I. DuPont & Company, a Wall Street Brokerage firm and moved to Cape Colony. In his earlier years he played baseball in the Wall Street League and also with the Pavillion Ball Club on SWWtWand, N. Thanksgiving Service Set The fourth Thursday in November is observed by many as a legal holiday for giving thanks for divine goodness. In observance of this day, Dr. Fenner, pastor of Providence, will render a Thanksgiving Day worship service beginning at 11 A.M. All officers, members and friends are invited to attend this service. Church School at Providence begins at 9:30 A.M. Morning worship service begins at 11 A.M. with the Young Adult Choir serving. Dr. Fenner will be in charge of morning worship service. State University, will conduct a holiday foods workshop at the Perquimans Extension Office Building December 8 at 2 P.M. Miss Spruill is a 1973 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institution and State University where she received a master science degree in foods and nutrition. Miss Spruill is planning Continued On Page 5 CARD OF THANKS Words are inadequate to express the gratitude I feel towards Dr. Hardin and the staff at Chowan Hospital for the care given me while I was a patient there. My thanks also goes to everyone for the many acts of kindness rendered towards me. Each prayer, visit, card and telephone call will always be treasured. John H. Hollowell Sermon Topic Announced Dr. Robert E. Gray, pastor of Edenton Baptist Church, has selected as his sermon topic, “The Gospel in Jesus”, for the 11 o’clock service on Sunday morning. Scriptural text will be Romans 1:16, 17. Special music at the morning service will include a solo, “The Choice Is Mine”, by J. R. Baxley, and the anthem, “For All Men Everywhere”, by the Sanctuary Choir. The ordinances of the Lord’s Supper will be ob served at the 7:30 evening worship. Miss Lane Sets Wedding In December Mr. Forrest Ervin Lane of Tyner announces the engagement of his daughter, Sheila Seda, to Mr. Gene A. Roberson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonso E. Roberson, also of Tyner. The wedding will take place at 4 P.M. on December 19 in Center Hill Baptist Church. Special Service Thursday Morning On Thursday morning at 8:30 A.M., there will be a service of worship, praise, and thanksgiving to God at the Edenton Baptist Church. Along with special music, there will be personal testimonies, and a brief message by the pastor, Dr. Robert E. Gray. You are invited to attend.
