financial institution’s total
mortgage loans to
$10,472,796.
J. Clarence Leary, Sr.,
president, pointed this out to
shareholders at their annual
meeting Monday night.
Leary also reported that
assets increased $1.5-million
during 1976 and savings
increased $1.3-million.
“We paid our largest
dividend of $600,661 in 1976,
compared with $509,412 in
1975,” the president
reported.
Calling attention to the
fact that the association is a
“people’s” group, he said
the opportunity to operate a
business is not a right, but a

graduated at Chanute AFB,
111., from the U.S. Air Force
technical training course for
aircraft pneudraulic
repairmen.
Airman Weintraub, who
was trained to repair air
craft hydraulic and
pneumatic units, is being
assigned to Pope AFB, N.C.,
for duty with a unit of the
Military Airlift Command.
Completion of the course
enables the airman to
receive academic credits
through the Community
College of the Air Force.
Airman Weintraub
graduated from high school
in 1976. .
The first meeting of the
Community Life Program
Advisory Committee was
held February 9 at 7 P. M. at
. the Albemarle
Membership Corporation
Building in Hartford.
The committee is made up
of businessmen, community
leaders and interested
citizens from Pasquotank,
Perquimans, Camden and
Chowan ( counties. The
purpose of the committee is
to advise the Community
Life Program staff on
policy, provide “grass
roots” information and
insight, fnd assist in the
development and im
plementation of public in
formation, fund raising,
evaluation, resource
identification and iden
tification and mobilization
of “power structures.”
Rev. A. C. Robinson, Jr.,
was elected temporary
chairman of the Advisory
Committee, and Billy Owens
was selected to serve as
temporary vice chairman.
As the committee’s first
action, they passed a
resolution “approving and
supporting the Proposal for
