M. to 11:15 A. M. The bus will pick up children in font of the Club House. Ladies from Bandon will help. Our Juniors, taught by Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Beach, had as their subject “Learning To Be Trust worthy”, Gen. 39:1-41. Aim was that the student may carry out distasteful tasks faithfully. “Guidelines To Faith”, James 4:1-10; 13-17, was the topic for our adults, taught by Mrs. Margaret Bunting. Aim was the adult Christians humble them selves before God, ap preciating the practical values that result from this. The fine group present for our Worship Service were warmly welcomed by Dr. W. J. B. Livingston, especially our first . timers. He in troduced Rev. Fritz Stegemman, pastor of The Open Door Chapel at Virginia Beach and told o the inspirational con versations the two -had enjoyed together. He read the scripture selected by Rev. Stegemman, I Sam, 17:38-47, and gave the morning prayer. Rev. Stegemman spoke briefly of his first sermon at Bandon, how the beautiful stained glass window of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, with the light of God shining through showing the glory of God, touched his heart as he entered the sanctuary. “I wanted to be the pastor of this church where you could feel the presence of God and where the dedicated people here had accomplished so much without the guidance of a regular minister - but that wasn’t God’s will”. He then told of his experiences prior to founding the Open Door Chapel, and added “we bought that old barn for $100,000.00 I was broke - had only $40.00 in my Docket and a congregation of 70 people. than 26 months in operation, the church is fully paid off and is now appraised by the city for $200,000.00.” Quite a feat! Rev. Stegemman’s powerful message was “Is Your God Big Enough?”are you taking God for granted? It’s so easy to set aside God. He should be the Center- His name should be higher than any other. We have to be willing to serve God’s blessings. Because of. King Saul’s disobedience, God told Samuel to appoint a new king of Israel, a man the Lord had sought our him self. He told Samuel “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature for God does not see as man sees; for a man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart”. Samuel annointed David by pouring olive oil upon his head, then the spirit of Jehovah came upon him and gave him great power from that day forward. David was a man after God’s own heart although he blew it many times. God overlooks shortcomings if you will stop and let God take over. When you call on God in any situation, He will take over. James says “You have not because you ask not”. No matter what you position is, you must have God in your life. Goliath, the Philistine champion was 9 ft. tall - had a spear that 25 pounds and 200 pounds of armour. Compare this Philistine to your problem. All of us have things facing us and we can’t see any way out - if you let them, they will make you a slave. Call on someone bigger than you - God. There is no problem too big for Him to solve. This Philistine giant came forth morning and night, taunting the army of Israel. God sent David, this young man, recently annointed, only knowing that His God ■U| YOUR MEDICINE B Do not share your medicine with someone else, ■ and do not take medicine prescribed for another I] person. David found out what was going on and said “Who is the uncircumcised Philistine that he should taunt the armies of the Living God”. David per suaded Saul to permit him to take on Goliath. The Philistine met David eyeball to eyeball and the Philistine was astounded! David said “You come to me wHhda sword, a spear and a jmrlin but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts, The God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. This day the Lord will deliver you up into my hands and I will strike you down and remove your head from your.” David pulled out his slingshot and hit him right between the eyes, then used the Philistine’s own sword to cut off his head. God will use the equipment you have on hand. His has dominion over all - He is the Highest. God’s word is the same yesterday, today and forever. Receive and obey your God. He will solve your problems and set you free. He suffered a heart attack Monday night and is in the Intensive Care Unit at Chowan Hospital. Clean air conditioner filters now for maximum cooling power in the months ahead. Overloading a freezer with warm food slows freezing time and wastes energy. First chill cooked foods quickly by setting them in cold water; then freeze.
