Also being sought is one Barbara Bush Sellers, the wife of Willie Sellers, who on May 9, was charged federally in Norfolk, Va., with accessory after the fact in connection with the escape of the subjects. Sellers has previously been convicted for bank robbery in the State of North Carolina, is known to travel extensively throughout the state, and has been arrested in the past in Charlotte. Park Boat Ramp Closed Pettigrew State Park near Creswell has announced the temporary closing of its boat launching facilities on Lake Phelps because of sedimentation problems. A new boat ramp now under construction on the north shore is expected to be completed around the first week in June. Car-top boats such as canoes and “jon” boats that do not require a ramp for launching can put in at another park landing 10 miles away on the south shore of the lake. Large boats can not be launched at all. Boaters are advised to call Pettigrew State Park in advance at (919) 797-4475 before planning a visit. When buying shelled nuts in a transparent package, look for nutmeats that are -plump and fairly uniform in color and size. Limp, rub bery, dark or shriveled . kernels may be stale. THE CHOWAN HERALD SECTION-B Thirteen Attend Reunion Os CHS Class Os 1933 The Class of 1933 of Chowan High School held its 44th class reunion at the Center Hill Community building May 7. The president, Cotter B. White, gave the welcome. Mrs. Margaret P. Hofler, gave the response. McAuley Byrum gave the invocation. Mr. and Mrs. White gave the buffet dinner for the members and their spouse. The White’s children, in laws, and friends helped serve the meal. The decorations, name tags, and programs carried out the class colors “Rainbow” and flowers “Sweet pea”. Thirteen of the 21 mem bers yere present. Only one member, Blanche Wiggins White, and one faculty member E.C. Woodard are deceased. The program was “Highlights of Class Night -1933.” Miss Carrie Lee Hollowell gave the salutatory. Mrs. Jessie Mae Harrell Horan, read the opening song because the music could not be found. Due to sickness of Mrs. Carrie C. Hurdle, the statistics were read by Mrs. Vivian Jordan, mascot. McAuley Byrum, gif- Barbecue, Dance Set By F ire Department The Merry Hill-Midway Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a pork barbecue supper Saturday from 5:30 - 8:30 P.M. at the Midway Community Building. No advance tickets are being sold, and all plates will be $2.50 each. At 8:30 o’clock, there will be a street dance at the fire department, with music by the Joy Makers of Willianjston. Square,dance figures will be called by Joe Swanner of Edenton. They were honored to have the chairman of the Edejiton-Chowan Board of Education, Eugene Jordan, at the reunion. His wife, Vivian, was mascot for the Class of 1933. After the program, the president shared with the group the album containing the history in picture and verse of the school he has compiled. The picture of the by the “Colonial Squares”, a modern square dance and clogging group from Edenton. Admission to the dance will be $2.50 per person, with children under 12 admitted free. Advance tickets may be purchased from'any member of the ladies auxiliary, or at the door. There will be cake walks, homemade ice cream, and other refreshments. Bank Dividend Is Declared 24 Cents/Share ROCKY MOUNT The Board of Directors of Peoples Bank and Trust Company has declared a dividend of 24 cents per share on the bank’s common stock for the second quarter, an increase of two cents per share above the 22 cents paid the first quarter. The dividend is payable June 30 to shareholders of record on June 15. The “X” dividend date is June 9. Peoples Bank currently serves 23 North Carolina communities with 39 branch offices.
