This is the estimated cost of raising a mouse, putting it to sleep, performing an autopsy and staining tissues Page 3-A for study of cancer. This is the fourth year the MYF group have conducted the mouse project. “Lets send many mice to represent Chowan County for cancer research,” a spokesman stated. All proceeds from the buttons will be credited to the Chowan County unit of the American Cancer Society. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Major Wright and the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther Lane. Mr. Harris is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Harris and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Crummey of Edenton. Miss Lane is a graduate of Kempsville High School. Mr. Harris is a graduate of John A. Holmes High School and is presently employed at Tidewater Produce Company in Portsmouth, Va. The wedding will take place December 31 at Carrow Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Va. Baptist Topic Set Dr. Robert E. Gray, pastor of Edenton Baptist Church, has selected for the 11 o’clock worship on Sunday morning the sermon topic “Concerning Your Contribution.” Scriptural text will be I Corinthians 16: 1-2, and Malachi 3: 8-12. At the morning service, the message in song will be “Blessed, Blessed Is He Who Cometh” to be sung by Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lockhart. Mrs. Lockhart is the former Pat Mooney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Mooney of our church. The anthem, “Come Unto Me”, will be rendered by the Sanctuary Choir. The ordinances of Bap tism and the Lord’s Supper will be observed at the 7:30 evening worship. The candidate for baptism is Thomas E. Ward, Jr. “goodies”, leaving us with full stomachs, wishing we could let our belts out another notch! It’s a time for everyone to express gratitude to our Creator for His countless blessings and to remember those less fortunate by sharing our blessing with them. It’s a time to let our families, friends and neighbors know that we love them and ap preciate them - that we do not take them for “grant ed”. Willoughby of Ahoskie, was held in the Oak Grove Community House at Rocky Hock, November 13. She is sister to Jesse Lane and the late Jim Lane. Covered dishes of delicious meals prepared and brought by the families attending. Those attending were her brothers and sisters, Will Lane of Hertford; Elsberry Lane of New Bern; Mrs. Sadie Hollowell of Chesapeake, Va.; Mrs. J.G. Bunch of Norfolk Va.; Mrs. Rexwell Brown of Ahoskie; Mrs. Martha Ann Willough by of Florida, George Willoughby of Nags Head, one grandson of West Palm Beach Fla., and many neices, nephews and their families and close friends totaling 105 present.
