He owns and operates Carr Drug Co. He is the grandson of the late Dr. R.L. Carr and Mrs. Carr of Rose Hill and Mrs. R.H. Horne also of Rose Hill. Mr. Barnhill gave his daughter in marriage. She was attired in a formal creation of candlelight satin with a bodice of Alencon lace with seed pearl ac cents. Her veil of silk illusion was highlighted with Alencon and Venice lace. She carried the white Bible used by her mother at her wedding. Bridesmaids gowned in olive green, carried a long stemmed yellow rose bud. They were Sharon Garner of Kinston, Julie Fussell of Rose Hill, Candice Carr, sister of the groom, and Mrs. George Arant of Smithfield. Emily Hill, dressed in Nile green, was maid of honor. Ushers were James A. Barnhill, brother of the bride, Jack Frederick, Horace Fussell, Jr., and James H. Cottle, Jr., all of Rose Hill. Robert L. Herring was best man. The bride’s parents en tertained the guests at a reception in the church following the ceremony. Mrs. M.L. Carr and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Fussell, Jr. honored the wedding party at a rehearsal dinner in Winston-Salem, Saturday night. Son Born To Lassiters Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lassiter of Edenton an nounce the birth of their son, Darrell Ray, at Chowan Hospital on November 21. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Billy Lassiter of Thomasville, N.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Murriel Layton of Hertford, N.C. Mrs. Lassiter is the former Teresa Layton of Hertford. Page 3-A Miss Hassell, Mr. Harris St. Paul’s Episcopal Church was the scene Saturday at 12 noon for the marriage of Miss Marion Bowden Hassell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Wiggins Hassell, to Mr. Tyler Bowe Harris, of New Bern, son of Mr. William Ballard Harris, Jr. of Lynchburg, Va. and the late Mrs. Harris. The Rev. Raymond Storie, rector of St. Paul’s, assisted by The Rev. Edward Sharpe of New Bern, performed the double ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore her mother’s wedding gown of ivory satin and lace, her lace veil, a family heirloom, was first worn by her great great great great grandmother at her wed ding in New Bern in 1803. She carried a white prayer book with a spray of orchids. Miss Anne Shepard of Edenton, cousin of the bride, was maid-of-honor. Her dress was of jade jersey, with boat neck and long sleeves. The bridesmaids, wearing identical dresses, were Miss Mary Hassell of Gloucester, Va., also a cousin of the bride; Mrs. Gray Wheeler, 111 and Mrs. John Burnette, both of New Bern; Mrs. Charles Nowlin of Lynchburg, cousin of the groom; Miss Betty Dixon and Miss Jacqueline Ricks, both of Edenton. Mr. William Harris, 111, of Wilmington brother of the groom, was best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Edgar Hassell of Raleigh, brother of the bride, Mr. Jackson Blackburn of Henderson, Mr. John Burnette, Mr. John Fox, Mr. William ' Moore and Mr. Stroud Tilley, all of New Bern. Mrs. Allen Homthal of Edenton acted as mistress of ceremonies. The bride’s mother wore a navy blue chiffon dress with a white corsage. A reception following the ceremony was held at the home of Col. and Mrs. William Bleeker Rosevear, great aunt and uncle of the bride. After a wedding trip the couple will reside in New Bern.
