His poster placed first in the Fourth Grade among posters entered from the 20 Northeastern Area Five coun ties. Stephen’s poster qualified for the area contest after winning first place in the county and first place in the Albemarle District Contest. His poster will now be entered in the statewide Conservation Poster Contest to be held in May. Livestock Show Winners (This news article is supplement to the one ap pearing in Chowan Herald last week). Jill Copeland won the fitting and showmanship demonstration for steers at Chowan Junior Livestock Show held last week. Second {dace winner; in this contest was Bill Jordan; third place, Debbie Jordan; fourth place, Harriett Winslow; fifth place, David Jordan and sixth place, Andy Hare. In the fitting and showmanship contest for hogs, the winner of the trophy was Donalton White. Second place winner was Gibson Rich; third place, Anna Goodwin; and fourth place, Mary Rich. The judge of the contest, Dr. Bob Jones, commented after the fitting and showmanship contest was over, “The boys and girls did the best job I believe I have ever seen. They were excellent.” In the pen of three contest third place winner was Joseph- fourth place, Jeff Toppin; fifth, Anna Goodwin; sixth Milt Tynch; seventh, Ivey Ward; eighth, Debbie Ward; nineth, Karen Ward; tenth, Randy Lowe and eleventh, Debbie Jordan. In the competition for best record books, Debbie Jordan won the trophy for her first place steer book. Debbie also won this honor in 1977. Other project book winners were Anna Good win, 2nd place; Joseph Goodwin, third place and Debbie Jordan (hogs) fourth place. Murray Goodwin, 4-H Coordinator said “In some ways this was the best Livestock Show we have ever had. Our champion individual hog sold for the most ($3.40 per lb.) of any animal we have ever had in the Chowan County sale. We had the most boys and girls (31) in the show ever.
