Recreation
Women’s Volleyball
Tonrnameat
The regular season trophy
was awarded to Edenton
Shell with an 11 and 1
record. The second placed
team, the Chargers, went on
to win the tournament
championship trophy.
Western Gas, tied for the
number three position with
Ship Shape, during the
regular season, was'
awarded the sport
smanship award.
Men’s Volleyball
Tournament
The regular season ended
with the Independents being
awarded the regular season
trophy. They also wait on to
win the tournament
championship trophy as
well. The sportsmanship
award was presented to the
Elks.
Second-Season Women’s
Volleyball Planned
There will be a meeting of
all interested coaches or
players for a second season
of women’s volleyball on
December 19 at 8:00 P.M.
The meeting will be held at
the Edenton-Chowan
Recreation Department in
the National Guard Armory.
All teams interested in
entering the league are
asked to please attend this
meeting or contact the
Edenton-Chowan Rec
reation Department at
482-8595.
Men’s Basketball
Meeting
There will be a meeting of
all coaches or players in
terested in entering the
men’s basketball league.
The meeting will take place
Wednesday, December 20,
at 8:00 P.M. at the Edenton-
Chowan Recreation
Department, in the National
Guard Armory. If you are
interested, you must attend
this meeting or contact the
recreation department at
482-8595.
Chwan High School
Gym Opens
The gymnasium at
open- for ages wis to play
basketball oh Saturdays.
The gym will open at 1:00
each Saturday morning and
close at 2:00 in the af
ternoon.
Public Hearing
Set December 11
RALEIGH The Division
of Highways of the N.C.
Department of Tran
sportation will hold a public
meeting in Currituck County
for the purpose of seeking
public opinion on access to
the Outer Banks.
The meeting will be held
on December 11 at 7:30 P.M.
at the Currituck County
High School. The high school
is located on NC-158, just
south of the intersection of
NC-158 and NC-34.
Secretary of Tran
sportation Tom Bradshaw
commented, “Access to our
Outer Banks has always
been of major concern. We
hope there will be a large
turnout for this important
information • gathering
meeting on December 11. By
obtaining the opinion of the
citizens who will be affected
most, the Department of
Transportation will have a
sound basis upon which to
make planning decision
that could affect all North
Carolina citizens,’’ Brad
shaw added.
“We are pleased to
respond to the Currituck
County Board of Com
missioners and Chairman
Baxter Williams,’’ Brad
shaw concluded.
The county board recently
mailed questionnaires to
solicit citizen input in ad
vance of the meeting. In
addition, Sec. Bradshaw,-,
State Highway Ad
ministrator Billy Rose and
chief of Planning W.F.
Caddell, Jr., will be in at
tendance to hear anyone
who would like to voice an
opinion.
