Thursday, June 14, 1979 jyAMA Officer Training Planned Local Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) permit officers will receive training for handling minor development permits in designated Areas of En vironmental Concern. The training is being held on June 11 - 14, at the N. C. Marine Resources Center on Roanoke Island. The training includes studies of Areas of En vironmental Concern (AECs> standards for development, coastal management legislation and programs, the materials and procedures to be used to assist developers with projects in AECs, and other permitting responsibilities. A field trip to estuarine and ocean hazard area sites is scheduled for June 13. Permit officers attending the. course include: Ralph Pafrish of Edenton and ■Chowan County. J* The training course is sponsored by the N. C. Department of Natural Resources and Community Development’s Office of Coastal Management. Permit officers must complete the course prior to the local governments issuing the CAMA minor development permit. A similar course will be held fojrCAMA permit officers in the State’s southern coastal acea on June 18-21. Court Handles Routine Cases Routine cases were tried Jude 5 during the regular session of Chowan County District Court. Judge Grafton G. Beaman presided. > Action taken included : Dillard White, non support, 120 days, suspended upon payment of costs and sls per week for support. Ramon Harmon, non support, 120 days, yiepended upon payment of Costs and $75 per week for support. Edward Rankins, order to show cause, called and failed. Seth Shannonhouse, trespass, 20 days, suspended upon payment of S2O fine apd costs and reimburse state for attorney fee. Notice of appeal entered. James E. Hassell, no operator’s license, $25 fine and costs. Ray Slade, assault on a female, not guilty. Clyde E. Salyer, worthless check, called and failed. Jlenry Drew, no liability insurance, $25 fine and CO6tS. Thomas Louther, no operator’s license, drunk driving and no liability insurance, 60 days, site pended upon payment of SIBO fine and costs. Notice of appeal entered. Thomas Preston Billups, disorderly conduct, 10 days, stppended upon payment of $26 fine and costs. Notice of appeal entered, y 'Renjamin Samuel Parker, reckless driving after drinking, SIOO fine and costs. •Jeffrey Wayne Vaughan, injury to personal property, 2P days, suspended upon payment of $25 fine and ocists and SBO for benefit of dape Colony Association. L Mary Rayner, shoplifting, suspended upon payment of $25 fine and costs. Betty Thompson, shoplifting, 20 days, suspended upon payment of SSO fine and costs. Notice of appeal entered.
