Fall Tobacco Lease and Transfer Program: Farmers may lease and transfer tobacco poundage through November 30th if certain requirements are met. Eligibility for leasing includes planting between 80 per cent and 100 per ceiit of the farms effective allot ment. Tobacco acreage will be measured on farms in volved in transferring poundage. An estimate of production will be made to determine the need for transferring poundage.. 1980 Wheat Update: Secretary of Agriculture Bob Bergland has an nounced the following provisions for the 1980 kWheat Program: ' —U. S. wheat producers will be eligible for farm program benefits in 1980 without setting aside or diverting acreage. —The 1980 wheat loan rate will be $2.50 a bushel, up 15 cents from the rate in effect the past two years. —Administrative or legislative steps will be taken to discourage planting wheat on fragile land. Non-Grazing Period: Farmers participating in the 1979 Feed Grain Program are reminded that the non-grazing period for set-aside continues through September 30. Local Church Slates Revival The Great Hope Baptist Church, Route 1, Hertford, will have a series of revival services beginning Sunday and continuing through Friday. Services will be held each evening at 8 o’clock. Dr. L. E. Stike will be the guest evangelist. He is pastor of Geneva Baptist Church, in Camden. There will be special music nightly and the public is cordially invited to attend these services. Rev. G. L. Broome is pastor. John Graham, Jr. Returns Home John Graham, Jr., is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Graham, after returning from six months of economic research in the Soychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean. On his way back to Edenton he toured in Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Greece, Italy, and Paris. While in Nepal he back packed for two weeks in the Himalaya Mountains.
