Aft. Sat jet (Plaint* Stide Miss Rosa Jean Parrish became the bride of James Edwards Barger in a double ring ceremony August 5. The candelite ceremony took place at 3 o’clock in Edenton Baptist Church. Dr. Robert Gray of Newport News, Va., heard the vows. The church was decorated in palms with bouquets of Fugi mums, springi fern glads and babys breath. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cary Yates Parrish, Jr., Route 2, Edenton and the grand daughter of Mrs. Joe Harrell of the Bethel Community. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ed wards Barger, Route 3, Edenton. Presenting a program of wedding music were Mrs. Robert Gray, pianist; Mrs. Larry Smith, organist; Dr. Robert Gray and Robert Gray, Jr., soloists; and Mr. David Copeland, trumpeter. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a long sleeved chiffon wedding gown featuring a sweetheart neckline. The bodice of Venice lace was em broidered with tiny seed pearls. A daisy-like'"chain of lace bordered the gown. She wore a picture hat covered in chiffon with lace matching her gown. It was bowed in the back with self streamers and lace edging. Jean carried a lace covered prayer book covered with a bouquet of silk flowers. Hie prayerbook was the one carried by her mother and sisters at their marriages. She wore a string of pearls given to her by her parents. Mrs. Faye Clark of Virginia Beach, Va., and Miss Jane Parrish of Edenton, sisters of the bride, were her honor at tendants. The bridesmaids were: Mrs. Linda White of Edenton, sister of the bride; Mrs. Thresia Morgan of Sumter, S. C.; and Mrs. Rebecca Adams of Manteo, sisters of the groom; and Miss Meredith Anne Lide of Madison. The groom’s father was best man. Groomsmen were C. Y. Parrish, 111, brother of the bride; David Jordan, cousin of the bride; Franklin Adams of Manteo, brother-in-law of the groom; Flynn Surratt and Richard Brabble of Edenton. Miss Bonnie Lynn White, niece of the bride was flowergirl. Brian Dana Morgan, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer. The mother of the bride wore a floor length blue chiffon gown. The groom’s mother wore a yellow chiffon gown. Both mothers wore corsages of mixed flowers. The bride’s grandmother wore a crepe floor length gown with a lace Jacket. She wore an orchid corsage. Mistresses of ceremonies were Mrs. Herbert Hollowell of Edenton and Mrs. William Lee of Nor folk, Va. Following the ceremony the bride’s parents en tertained at a reception in the church fellowship Hall. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Parrish, Jr. greeted guests. Mrs. Sue Parrish presided over the guestbook. Jay Morgan and Bryant White served as Junior Groomsmen. Mrs. Lin Jordan, Miss Debbie Jordan, Mrs. Margaret Spruill and Miss Tanya Adams assisted at the reception. The bride is a 1976 graduate of Chown Academy and a 1978 graduate of Peace College. She is attending East Carolina University where she is majoring in home economics. The groom is a 1974 graduate of John A. Holmes High School and is employed by the Sherwin Williams Co. in Greenville. For her going away outfit, the bride chose a two-piece mauve dress. She wore an orchid lifted from her bridal bouquet. After a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will make their home at 12012nd Street, Greenville. Miss Elizabeth Anne Hounshell and Clyde William Spear, Jr., were married at 8 P.M. Saturday, in First Christian Church in Greenville. Dr. Aldred Wallace, uncle of the bride from Bluefield, W. Va., performed the double ring ceremony. Hie bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles D. Hounshell of Greensboro. The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Clyde W. Spear, Sr., of Edenton. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of peau de sole and organza featuring a scooped neckline and apron front. The peau de sole bodice was trimmed in Venice lace and accented by a filled waistline, full skirt, long organza sleeves ending in a lace»ruffle and sweep train. The cathedral length veil was bordered in lace and attached to a lace bow. She carried an arm bouquet of yellow roses tied with yellow satin ribbons. Debera Johnson of Fayetteville was honor attendant... The mother of the bride wore a cream satin floor length dress with gold, green, brown, and cream print organza bodice and skirt over it. It had long sleeves and a scoop neckline. She wore a white orchid presented by bridegroom. The mother of the bridegroom wore a green floor length dress with a perm-a-press pleat skirt and cape. She also wore a white orchid corsage. Bridesmaids included Rosalind Castillo of Washington, D. C.; Katherine Moore, Bir mingham, Ala; Cindy Williams, niece of the bridegroom of Edenton; Cathy Hounshell, sister-in law of the bride of Winston- Salem; and Kimberly Kennedy of Jacksonville. The bridegroom’s father served as best man. Two spiral brass candlebras were placed on the sides of the altar and a brass semi-oval candleabra behind the altar. Brass candlesticks were also placed on the altar.
