Page 10-A Sermon Topic Is Chosen jjt, t- .' > _ A full day is planned for tfae Church of Christ on Mexico Road for Sunday. The sermon topic for the 10:30 worship hour is en titled, “The Lord’s Day”, and for the 6 P.M. hour ♦‘How Much Can I Keep?” At 3 P.M. members of the Congregation will conduct a Gospel Singing with the patients of Unit C at Chowan Hospital. After the singing, die youth will go to the minister’s home for a period of fellowship and a chili sapper. This week Dial-A- Devotion (482-8571) will offer a 60-day printed devotional book free to all those who ask for it. Amid a very busy schedule of church work, the church has also let a con tract to Percy Halsey to begin construction on new Bible classrooms. Ad ditional Bible classes will soon be added to the current educational program. There are 45 miles of nerves in the body. Max .M P ■*“* rfcfiJi - PROMOTE BIKE SAFETY Mrs. Lois Snyder, left, and Mrs. Gayle Young congratulate each other prior to heading out Wednesday morning on a 75-mile bicycle ride to promote safety. The ladies were scheduled to ride from Albemarle Sound Bridge to Nags Head, in what was expected to be a 10- hour endeavor. Mrs. Young said the purpose is to stress bicycle safety on heavily traveled roads as well as the necessity for bike trails in municipalities. Med. Officers Nominated The Albemarle Association of Medical Assistants monthly meeting was held October 4 at Drs. Crutchfield and McDonald’s office in Elizabeth City. The nominating committee gave its slate of officers for the coming year. Nominated were: President, Christeen Peele; president-elect, Helen Perry; vice president, Mildred Stanley; secretary, Betty Forehand; and treasurer, Grace Overton. The program was presented by Dr. William Crutchfield, an ENT specialist. He gave an in teresting talk on different kinds of headaches. He pointed out the specific questions that should be asked in order to diagnosis the patient. Another point was the importance on obtaining a good history. The program was con sidered as very informative. THE CHOWAN HERALD Carter Gets Woodstove A Dare IV woodstove manufactured by the Harrington Manufacturing Company of Lewiston and donated by Sen. Monk Harrington was delivered Thursday afternoon to the Presidential retreat at Camp David, Md. The .woodstove was designed by the Harrington Company and given to President Carter in recognition of the President’s support of renewable energy resources. The stove sells for approximately $895 retail, and is designed to force warm air down to the floor level for better heating. “I’m just proud that the stove is going to Camp David,” said Sen. Horse Show Is Scheduled The Perquimans County Horse and Pony Club will have a Horse Show Sunday at 1:30 P.M. The show ring is located four miles west of Hertford on Joe Perry farm.
