Council held a meetnng on
October 30, at the County
Office Building. The main
business of the meeting was
the election of officers for
next year.
y Elected president was
iDavid Jordan. David is a
junior at John A. Holmes
High School. In the years he
has been in 4-H, he has taken
part in demonstrations for
Jive years and has par
ticipated in the Chowan
County Uvestock Show for 2
years. He has been vice
president and reporter of
Yeopim Club.
Elected for vice president
was Gwendolyn Spivey.
Gwen has been president of
Mexico Road Club and was
winner in the
joultry barbecue contest
Jast summer.

The County Council voted
on a 4-H field trip, also. They
chose to take the trip to the
skating rink at Greenville
ana tor a side trip, to
Channel 9 Television
Station. The trip will be on
Thursday, December 27,
and the 4-H’ers will travel
by the school activity bus.
The Chowan County 4-H
Achievement Program will
be held Thursday,
November 29 at Center Hill
Community Building. The
speaker will be Herb Crase
who will speak on American
Indian History, culture,
weapons and tools.

connected with the Federal

Government in some way.

Security has a pamphlet
called “Guide to health
insurance for people with
Medicare.”
This pamphlet explains
what Medicare covers,
describes the kinds of
private insurance sup
plements available, and
provides useful information
to beneficiaries considering
the purchase of sup
plemental insurance.

Troutman
Is Named
To New Post
Leland F. Troutman has
joined the management of
UPDW, Inc., as accounting
manager at the Edenton
plant.
Troutman has most
recently been associated
with Collins & Aikman
Corp., a manufacturer of
textiles, as division ac
counting manager at their
Farmville plant. He
graduated from Wake
Forest University with a
Bachelor of Science degree
with his major in ac
counting.
Troutman enjoys reading,
chess, handball, tennis, and
music and plans to relocate
to the Edenton area.

Book Fair
White Oak School will
sponsor a student book fair
during Children’s Book
Week, November 12-16.
Students will be able to
browse and purchase books.
The fair will be open during
the hours of 9 A.M. - 3 P.M.
Books will be on display in
the library.
The Book Fair committee
invites all students, parents
and visitors to attend the
fair. The fair will encourage
student interest in reading
and in building home
libraries, and will also
contribute to a worthwhile
project. All profits will be
used for the library.
The book fairs offers an
opportunity to students,
parents and visitors to
purchase books and give as
a special Xmas gift or just to
build the home library for
reading pleasure.

worthy project will be
