Dale Touring
With Drum;
Bugle Corps
Edenton native Lynn Dale
is touring with the “Garfield
Cadets Drum and Bugle
Corps, a nationally ranked
marching organization, for
the 1980 competitive season.
Drum Corps blending
all forms of music to precise
and almost exaggerated
visual performances, is the
largest youth oriented,
crowd appealing activity in
the United States and
Canada. Today’s com
petitive marching bands are
shaped to resemble these
drum corps.
Dale, a 16-year-old rising
senior at John A. Holmes
High School, is one of the
Cadets’ 33 percussionists.
As a member of this section,
he has practiced up to six
hours a day to maintain
Garfield’s reputation for
high drum execution.
Though several states of the
Atlantic Seaboard are
represented in the Garfield,
N. J. based corps, Dale is the
only North Carolinian to
become a member.
He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Rudolph Dale of
Edenton, and a member of
the John A. Holmes Mar
ching Aces.

shift funds from the
disability fund which
apparently has a surplus
and is in good shape
financially, to insure at

will be approved at a late
date by both the House

Entries from Manteo

Mrs. Griffin stated:
“We are delighted to join
with the Jaycees in
sponsoring this event. The
Trent River Raft Race in
New Bern draws many
humerous and relatively
seaworthy entries. Our
‘Great Dismal’ contest
vessels will only be
limited by the ingenuity of
the constructors and the
necessity that the entry be
floating at the start.”
