Anyone requesting cost sharing assistance during that two week period will receive assistance unless that particular farm has already received assistance in 1980. First Tobacco Warehouse Redesignation Period: Producers who failed to designate their tobacco warehouse during the initial designation period, or who wish to change their warehouse designation, may do so during the first redesignation period that begins Monday, July 28 and ends Friday, August 1. The effective marketing date for tobacco redesignation during the first period will be Monday, August 11. Tobacco marketing cards covering tobacco that is to be redesignated must be presented at the county ASCS office by the farm operator when redesignation. Penalty For Marketing Over 110 Per Cent Os Wachovia Business Index The level of business activity in North Carolina continued downward in June, according to the Wachovia Business Index. The Index registered 155.7, 0.9 per cent below the revised May level. The decline, the largest since December, 1974, resulted from losses in manufacturing and non manufacturing em ployment, the manufac turing workweek, and price adjusted average hourly earnings for manufacturing employees. Manufacturing em ployment was down 1 per cent, reflecting decreases in both the durable and non durable goods sectors. The national rate for June was 7.7 per cent, down 0.1 per cent from May. The unadjusted unem ployment rate in North Carolina was 7.4 per cent in June. ■ Car and truck sales Continued to lag behind last year’s totals. Crop Disaster Program: Farmers that planted wheat, barley, com or grain sorghum and who filed a timely acreage report will be eligible for disaster protection. Disaster payments can be made on losses resulting from weather or other causes beyond the farmer’s control.
