Its contents caused Josiah to rend his clothes for he learned therein about the terrible sins of the people; and so he called thfcm together and had it read to them and then made a covenant for the people to follow in the ways of the Lord. Is that precious book lost today? Is it dusted but put back on the shelf or table? God says it is lost for “In the latter days, there shall be a famine in the land, not of food and water but of the WORD OF GOD. (Amos 8:11 And this need not be for the Bible is the most fascinating and most interesting book ever studied. It has something for everyone in its 66 books-a school for a life time. Listen to a few of the coursta/^^y In HISTORY ,/we learn of our beginnings in the Garden of Eden and of our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and of many exciting battles. We learn of WISDOM, in Proverbs, the wise savinas of Solomon, the wisest man to ever live. We study LAW in Exodus. Yes., we have extra-curricular courses. We TRAVEL a great deal, the longest journey being 40 yegrs through the wilder ness with Moses. In our 'FIELD TRIPS, we visit the ART galleries of Noah’s ark (you never saw such an exhibition!), and Solomon’s Temple, the greatest of man’s ARCHITECTURE. Our hearts are lifted up by the heavenly MUSIC of Psalms; and the little book of LOVE—Ruth, has not been taken out of our studies in school of life.-Then there is POETRY—sad, it is true, about the fall of Jerusalem in Lamentations. A LET TER-WRITING COURSE is at its best under the study of a man named Paul, who wrote to the churches in structing them and sometimes praising them and sometimes expressing wrath for their letting the devil come into their lives. But our very best education is to be found in the New Testament, where we sit at the feet of THE GREATEST OF ALL TEACHERS, JESUS CHRIST! This Bible, the book of books, is filled with just everything we need for our spiritual lives on earth. It is our book of ABC’s. It is our foundation for Christian living for ALL TODAY’S AND FOR ALL TOMORROWS. It is truly our book of READIN, RITIN’, AND ‘RITHME TIC.” So, find it and use it to the glory of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! Showing off the peanuts are, left to right, Charles Dunn of Raleigh, president of Chapels for the N. C. Centers for the Retarded; John Lowery of Lincolnton, state Jaycee president; and Roger Allen of Wilson, coordinator of the peanut project for the Jaycees. Controlling Insects Fire ants can present special and difficult problems. Several species are vicious stingers and biters - while others attack structural timbers, telephone poles and fence posts. Fire ants are also nuisance pests in lawn and garden areas. Now is the time for heavy infestations of these insects, particularly in the Southeast and the Southwest. This liquid concentrate is easily used-one ounce in one gallon of water-as a drench. Apply gently over and six inches around each mound to avoid disturbing ants. Larger quantities of the solution can be prepared for multiple mound treatments. For best results, apply in cool weather, 65-89 degrees F, or in early morning or later evening hours. If possible, treat new mounds as they appear. Jaycees To Raise Money ASHEBORO - Peanuts have made Eastern, North Carolina millions, a Georgia farmer president, a comic strip famous, and now - with Jaycee help - peanuts are helping to build chapels at the four state centers for the mentally retarded. State Jaycee President John Lowery of Lincolnton said today that Jaycee chapters across the state will be selling peanuts “salted in the shell” to help .raise money to build'in terfaith chapels at the four institutions. The Jaycees are among civic and religious organizations seeking to raise $2-million to build the chapels at Caswell Center at Kinston, O’Berry Center at Goldsboro, Murdoch Center at Butner, and Western Carolina Center at Morganton. Charles Dunn of Raleigh, president of the non-profit group raising money for the chapels, said, “On behalf of the more than 3,200 North Carolinians living at the four centers, I thank the Jaycees across the state for JBg Entire Stock of Summer Merchandise Jp Vi OFF 111 skirts, blouses, dresses, slacks, W shorts, raincoats - everything must go! f WOODLAND DRESS SHOP undertaking the Chapels project again this year.” “We appreciate the Jaycees who put into action that portion of their creed which states that service to humanity is the best work in life,” Dunn said. Lowery said, “I’m con fident that we can raise SIOO,OOO for the Chapels project.
