Letter To The Editor v To the citizens of Eden ton: To express my thanks to the citizens of Edenton is difficult, not difficult because of the lack of friendliness, on the con trary. I want to compliment the citizenry of Edenton for their expression of love shown to the Amburn family and Greer family after the tragic death of Luke Am burn. Never have I seen or heard or felt a warmness such as the citizens of Edenton expressed. Just to mention a few of the incidents 1 saw that impressed me about your town. The respect shown to the family by the police as the funeral procession passed through a intersection. The cross-section of people in attendance at Luke’s funeral warmed my heart. What better feeling would you have than to have people from every walk of "Promises, Promises, And Promises!" y I ..WEr ■ An independent local insurance agent is not a captive agent of one in suring company. The Waldenses, who later settled the Town of Valdese, were driven from their valleys in the French - Italian Alps in 1686. Three years later, in what was called the Glorious Return, these brave people fought their way back to their valleys. Every August the citizens of Valdese remember their courageous ancestors. The festival will be held on August 15, 1981 from 10 A. M. until 5 P. M. The festivities will begin at BA. M. with the Fourth Annual Great Waldensian Footrace, a one mile run. At 8:15 A. M. two races, a 5000 meter and a 10,000 meter, will begin. Entry to all three races is open up until starting time. A boccia tournament will be taking place all day. Boccia, a favorite of the Waldensian men, is similar to lawn bowling. Edenton Village Shopping Center Wednesday, August 12 Opening at 8:00 A.M.
