Broad St. Ext. the country club, considers this tournament as ‘probably the most suc cessful one they’ve ever had.’ The reasons cited by Kelly were the good weather, good players and the course being in good condition. The fact that all of the players finished in under four hours also shows how well the tournament went. - The winners are as follows: Larry Hughes, Ist flight winner; coach Tom Bass, 2nd flight winner; Randy Crabtree, 3rd flight winner; Hood Ellis, 4th flight winner; Nat Brabble, sth flight winner; and Tommy Bass, who won the championship flight. Kelly, who has been the golf pro for seven years at the Chowan Golf and Country Club said this was the first year that someone from Edenton has won the tournament. In fact, all six flights were won by club members this year. The golfers, who came from different areas of North Carolina and Virginia, were selected from those who had par ticipated in tournaments during the previous two years. Approximately 100 invitations were sent out and 80 of those were there for the tournament. Next year’s tournament should prove to be just as exciting.
