Page 8-B Death Claims Mr. Webb, 76 James Webb, 76, of Greensboro, died Sep tember 3. Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where he was a member. A second service was held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Hillsborough. Mr. Webb, a retired Cone Mills executive, was a former member of the Edenton Historical Com mission. He was a native of Hillsborough and also served on that community’s historical commission. He also founded Eno Cotton Mills and was president of the firm when it was incorporated with Cone Mills in 1948. Mr. Webb served as senator from Orange County before moving to Greens boro in 1952. He was active in community affairs all of his life. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he served on the John Motley Morehead Scholarship Committee and was past president of the UNC Alumni Association. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Kate Ragsdale of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three sons: James Webb, Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla; Beverly R. Webb of Charlotte; and William N. Webb of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother H. B. Webb of Durham and seven grandchildren. Conference Participant F. N. McNair, Jr., president of the Federal Land Bank Association of Ahoskie, has returned home after participating in a four state conference of Federal Land Bank Association and Production Credit Association officials held August 23-25 at the Hilton in Myrtle Beach, S.C. McNair said that over 1.200 p'teideriti&tfdg&sts 6f the 46 Land Bank Associations and 57 Production Credit Associations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida at tended the business sessions. Farmer-owned Land Bank Associations make and service long-term loans for The Federal Land Bank of Columbia to farmers, growers, ranchers and homeowners in rural areas. PCAs provide short and intermediate term credit to this same group, as well as to commercial fishermen. The two banks and associations have loans outstanding to more than 142,000 members in excess of $7.4-billion in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida, the four states served by the Banks and Associations. The Federal Land Bank Association of Ahoskie has 1470 loans outstanding to members in Bertie, Hert ford, Northampton, Gates, Camden, Currituck, Chowan, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties amounting to over $72,117,000. Also attending the Myrtle Beach meeting, in addition to McNair were Jimmie L. Rowe, Frank W. Hollowell, Cecil J. Maddrey, Jr., and T.B.H. (Ben) Wood.
