Symphony in your recent Public Parade. Since an interest has been expressed in our efforts, I’d like to make everyone more aware of exactly what we are doing. By establishing an Edenton Chapter and electing an on-going board of directors, we have committed ourselves to making the N. C. Symphony a part of our community. In other words, while the monies we collect in the form of tax deductible contributions and mem bership sales in our current drive will be applied to our concert series on January 28,1982, our efforts will not stop there. After our 1962 concerts, the board of directors will immediately begin to evaluate the response to them and make plans for 1983. This year we will have a daytime concert for 1,000 school children in Chowan County and an evening concert fa the public. The key is that there will be an experienced board of directors with new members being rotated on annually already organised to insure that our efforts don't produce a “one-shot deal”. Our emphasis for the daytime concert is on un derstanding ttw smyphony while enjoying it, and local educators have already been involved in a workshop in Raleigh with that aim. We are most excited to be in cluding a performance of the Combined Edenton Choral Society and the John A. Holmes Concert Choir with the symphony: This will broaden the experience for the students and in crease the pleasure for everyonel There are tickets available for the evening performance, and everyone is invited to attend. As the free daytime concert will not accomodate high school students, they are en couraged to attend the evening performance. Membership farms have been delivered to many local civic organizations, and if these groups sell only 30 memberships each that’s less than eight families of four! We’ll have a full house! Letters concerning the concerts are currently being mailed from Raleigh. Anyone with questions about the concerts or needing ticket information should call 482-2792 and we’ll be glad to help.
