Thursday, December 3. 1981 ■m ■■ • K v |E A PLACE IN HISTORY— Mrs. J. H. C. Ehringhaus, center, is among North Carolina First Ladies recorded in history in a new publication by Mrs. Grace Hamrick of Shelby. Mrs. Ehringhaus is pictured here on a visit to Hertford. Mrs. J. Emmett Winslow, right, was her host. The lady on the left is unidentified in this picture from The Chowan Herald files. First Ladies’ Lives Studied It’s not difficult to find out about the governors who have lived in North Carolina’s gracious Executive Mansion in downtown Raleigh. Look in a history book or the biography section of the library or old clippings, and you’ll find records of vic tories and defeats, likes and dislikes. But where do you find out about the women who have shared the mansion with them? Thanks to a special project sponsored by the Executive Mansion Fine Arts Committee in con junction with the Bicen tennial Foundation and the Mary Duke Biddle Foun dation, you can now look them up in a handsome publication, “The First Ladies of North Carolina.” Co-authored by former First Lady Jeanelle C. Moore and Shelby journalist Grace Hamrick, the 86-page hard-bound volume is the first book devoted to the lives of North Carolina’s First Ladies. A limited number of copies of the first edition are available for sl2 plus $1.50 postage and handling from the N. C. Department of Cultural Resources in Raleigh. All revenues go to the Executive Fine Arts Committee, an organization WARNING! Absolutely NO RIFLES Will Be Allowed On Byrum Farms - Route 1, Edenton.
