Churches Provide Funds “Free Will Baptist Churches of Washington, Martin, Tyrrell, Pasquotank, and Chowan counties raised $4,811 at their annual gift support dinner for Mount Olive College,” announced Jean Ackiss, associate director of development. Eleven churches par ticipated in the dinner with ~ 195 people in attendance. As dinner chairman, David Cahoon of Gum Neck Free Will Baptist Church presided over the program which included the New Creations, a musical group from the College, and a report on plans to develop Mount Olive into a four-year institution. Mrs. Ackiss explained that the gift support provided by the dinners will assist in the transition of Mount Olive College to senior college status. The “Bridge to the Future” program approved by the board of trustees calls for the addition of the junior year in 1984 and the senior year in 1985. Under this time-table, students who enter in 1982 will be in the first baccalaureate class of 1986.
