Mr. and Mrs. Overton are the parents of four children; Mrs. Willie Mae Wilson; Lloyd Overton, Jr.; Mrs. Virginia Oliver; and Mrs. Kathleen Lane, all of A/utUny Scholarship Sh Ustalrlished A scholarship for Prac tical Nursing Education students at College of The Albemarle has been established in memory of a former graduate. The Brenda Holt Muir Scholarship has been founded as a memorial by her husband, Gregory T. Muir. Proceeds from the trust will be awarded to eligible PNE applicants to cover educational expenses, including incidental costs, for up to four quarters. Mrs. Muir was the victim of a fatal automobile ac cident in Memphis, Tenn. on June 16, 1980. She was returning home in nearby Millinton from Baptist Hospital, where she was employed as a nurse. Mr. and Mrs. Overton and their children enjoyed a luncheon at Boswell’s Restaurant. Following the luncheon, refreshments were served for relatives and friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lane. The former student, who was 26 years old at the time of her death, was the daughter of the late Sylvia B. Johnson of Tyner. She graduated from Chowan High School in 1974, and received her practical nursing education diploma from CO A in 1976. 4jicks Us Uit (graduate Airman Jacqueline A. Hardy, daughter of Annie M. Hardy, of 123 West Hicks Street, Edenton, has graduated from the U. S. Air Force aircraft electrical repair course at Chanute Air Force Base, 111. Y. is visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ezyk during the Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiltshire of Richmond, Va. were guests of Sara Miller last weekend. Mrs. Sara Bishop of Rich mond, Va., visited friends in Edenton Saturday. She is the former Miss Sara Oliver of Edenton. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hollowell had as their guests last weekend Mr. and Mrs. George Tunstal of South Boston, Va. -^)— Miss Fran Hollowell, student of University of Georgia is spendng the holidays with her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hollowell. Muir, who is now a resident of Mumford, Tenn., is a U. S. Navy bio-medical technician stationed at Millington. A family tie still exists at COA. His sister, Deborah M. Tatum, is enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing program. toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. Hardy will now serve at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, with the 343rd Component Repair Squadron. She is a 1979 graduate of John A. M. at Center Hill Baptist Church in Tyner. Rev. George Cooke of ficiated the ceremony amid a background of the chur ches Christmas tree, church urns of holly, white mums and glades, red poinsettias and candles. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fleetwood Harrell of Tyner. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dail and the late Mrs. Barbara Ward Dail, also of Tyner. The wedding music was provided by Mr. Jake Boyce, organist; ‘ Mr. Millard Layden, soloist ahd‘ a duet by Mr. Layd4n and Miss Hope Harrell. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Her gown was of ivory silk accented with Venetian lace and pearls, with an attached chapel length train. She wore a Juliet styled head piece and a trailing floor length veil. She carried a bouquet of white and pink sweetheart roses. Miss Hope Harrell was her sister’s maid of honor and only attendant. Mr. Dail was his son’s best man. Ushers were Mr. Jack Harrell and Mr. Paul Harrell, brothers of the bride. The lighting of the candles was done by Mr. Randy Ward, cousin of the groom. Registering the guests was Mrs. Tommy Layden, sister of the bride. Mrs. Rodney Jordon served as mistress of ceremonies. After a wedding trip to Wingergreen Ski Resort in the mountains of Virginia, the couple will make their home in Tyner. Courtesies A lingerie shower was given by friends for the bride on November 6 in the home of Mrs. Tommy Layden. On November 21 a floating miscellaneous shower was given in honor of the couple by friends at the Center Hill Community Building. Bass has been with the Ayden Volunteer Fire Department for six years. He also received the award in 1978 for being an out standing fireman. Bass is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Graham P. Bass, Route 3, Edenton. He is married to Mary King Bass, and they have three children. Uteering Committee Us Organised. The Edenton-Chowan 2000 Club met on Dec. 17 to form a Steering Committee, a committee to plan and guide the meetings and to en courage participation. The 2000 Club discusses issues that are of importance for long-range planning in the year 2000; those that are important to Chowan County and to North Carolina. Everyone is in vited to attend their meetings. Members of the Steering Committee are Pete Thompson, chairman; J. Michael Williams, Betty Cox, A. C. Hudson, James Taylor, Marvin Smith, T. D. Berryman, Mrs. April Lane, Mrs. Louise Darby, Cliff Copeland and Harriet Abbe. A meeting has been set for Jan. 14 at 7:30 at John A. Holmes High School.
