I Ai-Yun Tai and Sandy Mallinson were both bora in Xuzhou, China, which is 400 miles from Shanghai, and v M * played together as chiltfren. Mrs. Mallinson’s parents were missionaries in China under the Presbyterian Church. The two friends were separated at the beginning of World War 11, a separation that was to last a long time. Sandy Mallinson and her husband, Rev. H. E. Mallinson, visited China last year in November. While there they had dinner with Ai-Yun-Tai’s parents and husband. Ai-Yun-Tai’s father, a Chinese pastor, had baptized Mrs. Mallinson when she was a baby. They learned that Ai-Yun-Tai was in America doing research on the Zoology of Crustaceans at Harvard University for one year. Ai-Yun-Tai had dinner with Mrs. Mallinson’s parents in Atlanta, Ga. during the Christmas holidays, and came to Edenton after leaving.
