The Views On Dental Health Richard N. Hines, Jr. | 'Jmf- Fellow of The Academy jg of General Dentistry Which Toothbrush For You Although we don’t often think about what kind of toothbrush to buy, there are differences, and important ones. Tooth brushes must be prescribed for individual just as medicines are. Not long ago, the hard, natural bristle brush was almost universally recommended, and with some dentists it still is. However, the natural bristles have almost knifelike tips that can cut into the gums and even the tooth, and, when used to remove plaque under gums, can break and create irritation in the area. Consequently, more and more dentists are recommending the soft, multi-tufted nylon brushes with rounded bristles. These are ideal for plaque removal. "We Cater To Cowards” Affordable, portable warmth. HI, NEIGHBORS! Are you a dreamer? Most of us are to a certain extent - I think we all dream of helping in some way to make this world a better place to live. Somewhere I heard that “a dream is an imaginary thought that comes true by hard work and lots of engineering”. If you have a favorite dream, be sure it’s one acceptable to God and don’t let anyone throw “cold water” on it! We live in a country that was once a dream. Our “Declaration of In dependence” was conceived “God’s plans are like the ocean, varied as the winds that fall All are products of His wisdom, all are subject to His call. Not a breeze that stirs the tempest or a sparrow down doth fall, But our Heavenly Father knoweth, for He watches over all.” -—-O On this Lord’s Day the sun shone brillantly while the blustery winds whipped the waters of the mighty Chowan to a froth, bending branches of the highest trees and it was cold! How cold was it? Eighteen degrees when we had break fast but by the time we got home from church, it was ten degrees!! The frigid temperatures didn’t stop God’s people from assembling at the church of their choice. Those assembled at Bandon Chapel felt the warmth of Christian love as they came together to re-charge their spiritual batteries. “Jesus, the Servant”, Luke 22:24-27; John 13:1-7, 12-15, was the topic for our adults, taught by Margaret Bunting. If we are to follow the example set by Jesus, we are commanded to serve one another - we must be servant-like towards our friends, family members, fellow-workers and even toward those for whom we feel enmity. We must be alert to discover the needs of others which we can meet. “Happy Birthday” was (fatdtn (21* (r A/tun The January meeting of the Garden of Eden Club was held at the home of Mrs. David Wright. A most in teresting and informative talk was given on the sub ject of camellias by Mr. Irving Nixon of Elizabeth City. Mr. Nixon showed slides of beautiful camellia blooms which he grew. He also provided valuable information on the planting of camellias, the use of gibarellic acid in bloom production, the application of fertilizer, and various methods of dealing with diseases to which the plants, are subject. Reports were given on the outdoor home decorating contest sponsored by the club at Christmas. Mrs. Linda Keel and Mrs. Nellie Jones reported on the ac tivities of the Junior Garden Club, namely the making of bird seed balls to put outside the windows of the nursing homes, and the making of decorative turkeys for Thanksgiving use. iItMM "Topic 2k (2koitn “Evangelism! Let us pray that God will show us how to use our time, money and talents so that our country and its people may once again come up to the dreams of our forefathers. We must hamg in there, use the power of prayer and work hard to fulfill our dreams - make tliem become reality. Even though we dream our dreams, let us rememlier that God has a plan for each of us - big or small, rich or poor. Every individual is important in the sight of God. Elizabeth Williams tells us about God’s Plans in this little verse. Share it with me: sung by all in honor of Ada Barnes, Tom Dilday, Bob Mason and Ernest Lassiter as their contributions were added to our Birthday Bank.
