That bill became effective on January 1, 1982. By far. not an in significant piece of legislation, this bill provides the employee of any firm or company covered by a group health policy, the privilege of retaining that coverage for 90 days after termination of employment, whether voluntary or involuntary, so long as he-she makes timely payments as stipulated to the employer and as long as he-she is not eligible under other group coverage such as that of an employed spouse. In other words, the temporarily unemployed got a break on their group health coverage. Otherwise, they would probably have had none. After the 90 days continuation period is en ded, they must automatically be offered a conversion privilege to an individual policy without further evidence of in surability. The Northeastern Association of Life Un derwriters and its parent organization the North Carolina Association of Life Underwriters encouraged the sponsorship of the legislation and its passage in the interest of protection for North Carolina's tem porarily unemployed. They feel strongly that the State of North Carolina will more than reap its reward by providing use of private coverage that might otherwise have had to be paid for by government welfare program. District Retreat The annual District 4-H Retreat will be on Friday through Sunday, March 19- 21. This year the Retreat will be held at the Holiday Inn in Greenville. The tentative cost will be approximately $33.00 which will include transportation, registration, lodging, workshop expenses and two meals. Other meals and recreation expenses will be in addition to the $33.00. The cost is figured on four to the room and was provided by John DeWeese of Hyde County. There could be a change in cost, but probably not. Classes will involve Computer Science, Saving Energy, Endangered Species and Conservation, and Macrame. There w ill be other classes, too. The deadline for paying for the Retreat has been set for January 21. John DeWeese says that their will not be any late payments allowed. The motel has an indoor swimming pool and there will be a late swim one night. Probably on Saturday night there will be a choice of roller skating or going to the movie. To go on this 4-H trip you must be 13 years old. Spring Fashion Revue You can learn to sew and make your own clothes Wouldn’t this be a big savings for you and your parents!
