Page 2-A SELECTED TO PERFORM The five students above from John A. Holmes High School were selected by audition to perform this past Saturday at East Carolina University with the Eastern District All-State bands. Butch Everson, and Willene Jernigan played with the concert band under Dr. Andrew Preston from Atlantic Christian College. Maria Winslow, Susan Elks, and Karen Keeter played in the Symphonic Band under Dr. Kenneth Bloomquist from Michigan state University in East Lansing Michigan. These students were among the 171 students that were picked from all of Eastern North Carolina. Peoples Bank Report ‘ROCKY MOUNT Peoples Bank and Trust Company has reported income before securities transactions of $1,280,000 for the fourth quarter of 1981, compared to $1,204,000 earned before securities transactions during the same period in 1980. William H. Stanley, chairman of the board and chief executive officer, said this was equivalent to $1.15 per share, compared to SI.OB per'share earned during the fourth quarter of 1980. Obituaries Mrs. Louise Dean Wilson Mrs. Louise Dean Wilson, 68, of Route 3, Eden ton, died Feb. 4 at Chowan Hospital following .an extended illness. The wife of Everette W. Wilson and a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, she was a former employee with Sea brook. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Mary Lou Hoggard of Colerain, N.C. and Mrs. Nancy Noble of Edenton, N.C.; one brother: Willie Raynor Deans of Suffolk, Va.; two sisters: Mrs. Hazel Hughes of Merry Hill, N.C. and Mrs. Florence D. Pope of Winton, N.C. ; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held a Williford-Barham Funeral Chapel at 2 P.M. on Feb. 6 by Rev. Donald Wagner. Burial followed at Beaver Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne Bunch, Charlie Watt White, C. B. White, Frankie Deans, Ray Deans, and Kenneth Deans. Williford - Barham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lula Newton Price Mrs. Lula Newton Price, 93, mother of Mrs. G. D. (Maie P.) Asbell of 128 Morris Circle, Edenton, died Tuesday, February 2. Funeral services were held Thursday at 11 A.M. in the Scotland Neck Funeral Home by Rev. Ken Carlton of Oak City and Rev. Richard Blankenhorn of Edenton. Burial followed in Oak City Cemetery. A native of Anson County she was the widow of Ed ward Price and had lived in Oak City for several years. She was a member of the Savannah Methodist Church in Anson County. Other survivors include another daughter: Mrs. J. C. Johnson of Oak City; a son: Joel ,p. Carteret St. The son of >Mr. Clement McKay Washington, Sr. and Mrs. Agnes Wainwright Washington of Edenton, he was employed as a lineman with Compass Corporation of Edenton. Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Mrs. Alice Griffin of Buxton, N.C. Funeral Services were held graveside beginning at 4 P. M. at Beaver Hill Cemetery on Feb. 4 by Rev. Marvin Baccus and Dr. John Allen. Williford Barham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Henry L. Maxwell Henry L Maxwell, 66, of Chowan Beach, died Saturday in a Portsmouth, Va. Hospital. A native of Cocoa, Fla., he was the husband of Mrs. Mary A. Maxwell. He retired from the Navy as a chief petty officer after 23 years service and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was also retired from Newport News Shipbuilding, where he was a quality control inspector for 10 years. He was Protestant and was a member of Fleet Reserve Association. Other survivors include two daughters: Miss Carol Maxwell of Norfolk and Mrs. Mary Fisher of Smith field, Va.; two sons: Henry L. Maxwell of Richmond and William G. Maxwell of Virginia Beach; and eight grandchildren. A funeral was held Monday at 11 A.M. in Hollomon-Brown Bayside Chapel by Chaplain John Pope. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Smith Route I IMs Phone 221-4031 - Greyhound Awarded Contract A contract has been awarded to the Greyhound Exhibit Group of Atlanta, Ga., to build the North Carolina state exhibit for the 1982 World’s Fair at Knoxville, Term. Gov. Jim Hunt made the an nouncement today. This firm’s proposal was selected from among eleven presentations. “I am convinced that North Carolina will have the very best exhibit at the 1982 World’s Fair,” Gov. Jim Hunt said. “In addition to portraying all of the very fine things which our state has to offer visitors to the World’s Fair and to welcome them to visit our state, the North Carolina exhibit will feature musical and artistic performances by our talented people. “Our participation at the fair will be something of which all North Carolinians can be proud,” Gov. Hunt added. According to the proposal accepted from the Exhibit Group, this firm will design, according to the state’s specifications, build and install the North Carolina exhibit at the World’s Fair in exchange for a fee of $99,450. The state’s 1,500-square foot exhibit will promote North Carolina’s $2.4-billion travel industry and will also help tell the state’s economic development story. (Bo) Roberts, president of the World’s Fair. “I believe our eastern neighbor will be well represented and will present a very popular exhibit.” Gov. Hunt has already extended an invitation to county officials to par ticipate in “County Day” at the North Carolina exhibit.
