Carter of Roper, Milton Continued On Page 12-B THE CHOWAN HERAT .n Southeastern Graphics Display Approximately 30 prints showing a variety of techniques and imagery will be on view Feb. 14 - Mar. 21 in th Collectors Gallery of the N. C. Museum of Art in Raleigh. An opening reception will be held on Feb. 14 from 4 to 6 P.M. Titled “Southeastern Graphics Invitational 1981: Prints,” the show includes etchings, lithographs, wood engravings, woodcuts, photo-etching, and serigraphs. It was organized by Jane Kessler, assistant curator of exhibitions at the Mint Museum in Charlotte. A catalogue accompanies the exhibition. The work of Greenville artist Donald Sexauer is represented in “The Con struct an Angel.” The color intaglio shows a manmade angel being hoisted toward awaiting wings. Scribbled across the blueprint are mischievous comments from the artist’s peers on how the project might be better ac complished. Charlotte artist Paul Harcharik’s work includes “Folded Archdale No. 14,” a monotype showing a folded shirt. Its flatness is ren dered in monochromatic gray stripes. John Thomas Maggio of Greensboro uses a com plicated process of cut stencil lithograph over serigraph for “Three Down Six to Go.” Multi-colored letter-like shapes emerge through the cutouts in the rich blue lithograph. Other North Carolina artists in the exhibition are Don Byrum, Charlotte; Ann Conner, Wilmington; Michael Ehlbeck, Green ville; Herb Jackson, Davidson; and Kurt Wamke, Belmont. After the exhibition closes in Raleigh, it will travel to James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Va.; East Carolina University, Greenville; and the Hunter Museum, Chattanooga, Term.
