S. Bach concert Performed with the American Boychoir and the Smithsonian Chorus ‘ on Radio Station WHRO-FM, Norfolk, (89.5) at 11 P.M. Sunday. A gifted student at the internationally • acclaimed American Boychoir School, Princeton, N.J., (formerly the Columbus Boychoir), Kerry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Williams, Route 4, Elizabeth City. Winner of the Charles Hobbs $4,300 Scholarship as the school’s “most promising new soprano and academic student,” Kerry toured Europe at age nine singing classical solos in famed cathedrals such as Notre Dame and Cologne, and became an honorary member of most of the famed boys choirs of Europe. Locally he played the lead in the Tidewater Dinner Theatre’s “The King and I”, the College of the Albemarle “Oliver,” and performed for the Virginia Beach “Showstoppers” and the “Little Miss Phillipines” contest. Often he performs in concert with Ms sister Monica Lynn, 13, who is the youngest operatic soprano ever accepted at the North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, N.C. On Christmas Day, Kerry and Ms remarkable choir group, led by Donald Hanson of Toronto, were twice seen on national television, Charles Kuralt’s CBS “Morning” show and Frank Reynold’s ABC signoff news. Earlier the choir performed at the WMte House and in a special holiday program sang the Ceremony of Carols and the King David oratorio at the Smithsonian. Sunday’s Bach program, performed at Baird Auditorium, Museum of Natural History, is con ducted by James Weaver, artistic director of the Smithsonian Players. The music of Bach represents the culmination of German Baroque, and the classical American Boy Choir is outstanding in its mastery of Bach’s diverse sacred motets and secular can tatas. The program will include the motet “Singet dem Herrn ein Neus Lied,” for double chorus, and the cantata, “Der zufriedengesteilte Aerolus, DMV 205.” The orchestra also will perform the majestic Overture in D- Major, BMV 1069.
