Nothing I do is right. He fussed about me not having a job, so I went and got one - it wasn’t at a good place! He loves my older sister (20yrs.) she can do nothing wrong. I never do any thing right! I make B’s in school and they aren’t good enough! He bought my older sister a car when she was 16. Where is mine? I don’t get one! What do I do? I do want to please my dad. Help! Help! Dear Help! Help! Since your father cares about the type of work you do, it's obvious that he does love you. Since, like you, most of them want to please their parents, they strive harder to achieve high goals set by their parents. Soon you’ll find that you will be setting your own high goals and expecting to live up to them. Your father is just trying to help you want to improve yourself. There’s nothing wrong with that. You mentioned your 20 year old sister. It’s not that your father loves her more, it’s that she is setting her goals for herself now and he respects it. Be patient, good things come to those who wait! BAnne Gouplt Sh United Ski Mattiaye Miss Cathy Thompson Bateman and Fleetwood Linwood Harrell, Jr., were united in marriage Feb. 14 at 3 P.M. at Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church in a Valentine’s Day setting. The bride’s pastor. Rev. George Cooke, officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David T. Bateman of Tyner. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Fleetwood Linwood Harrell, also of Tyner. Mrs. Delores Hollowell, organist, provided a program of traditional wedding music. Fresh palms filled in between the candles and the baskets of flowers. The arrangements consisted of red roses, pink gladioli, pink mums, pompoms and babies breath. The four bouquets were placed between the candelabra and live palms in such away as to enhance the setting. A large white pillar candle was placed in the center on a brass candle stand. The bride and groom lighted the candle with two tongs. At the end of the ceremony, a long stem red rose was presented to each of the mothers by the bride and groom. The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, wore a candlelight gown of organza. The gown featured a high neckline with a Schiffli embroidered yoke trimmed in Venise lace and crystal pleatings with at tached chapel train. The full Bishop sleeves were enhanced with motifs of Venise lace. The bride chose a veil of illusion trimmed in Venise lace. She carried an old fashioned Colonial nosegay of sweetheart roses, miniature carnations, babies breath and silk lily of the valley. Mrs. Randy Byrum of Tyner, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Randy Stalls of Williamston, aunt of the bride; Miss Hope Harrell of Tyner, sister of the groom; and Miss Diane Bateman of Raleigh, cousin of the bride. The bridesmaids wore organza gowns of Cranberry. They featured a drop shoulder bodice with a bouffont skirt. They carried hand bouquets of long stem white roses. In their hair they wore babies breath. Mr. Harrell was best man for his son. Groomsmen were Randy Byrum of Tyner, brother-in-law of the bride; Jack Harrell of Tyner, brother of the groom; and Randy Ward of Tyner. Miss Amy Asbell presided at the guest register and was presented a corsage of white daisies. Dave Bateman, brother of the bride, and Paul Harrell, brother of the groom, were bulletin ushers.
