M h Dr. Sciflia to Discuss Michelangelo The Human Dimension series at College of The Albemarle moves into its third week with “The Vision of Man,” a discussion of the in9ence of Michelangelo by Dr. Charles E. Scillia, assistant professor of art at Old Dominion University. The session will begin at 7:30 P.M., March 16 in Room B-202. Considered by many as foremost among the Renaissance masters, Michelangelo will be depicted as a colossal genius of the age. His art, according to Scillia, captured the ultimate beauty of the human form, and expressed human aspirations with an eloquence rarely found in the works of other artists. Scillia earned his doc torate in 1977, from Bryn Mawr College. He wrote his dissertation on “The Tex tual and Figurative Sources of the ’Stirps Jesse’ in the First Half of the Twelfth Century, with Special Reference to the Rhine- Meuse Area.” .Prior to joining the ODU faculty, the scholar lectured at Case Western Reserve University. He was an assistant professor of art at Wilson College for three years.
