Martin of the ECU School of Education faculty. Letter To Ecftor • To.the Editor: I fed compelled to speak up. in behalf of the Board of Directors Cape Colony Association. All of us became apart of this community by choice, with this choice came many unforseen and, unknown problems. First off, the dev elopers dissolved and we inherited roads which were sub-standard and other problems being discovered daily to be handled by the Board of Directors in which we either elected or like on so many other community problems, we chose not to gat involved. During the last annual meeting the number of- members accepting nominations for seats becoming vacant were no more than the number required to fill vacancies. If the board of directors is an easy or prestigious position, why is it no one wants to serve on the board. The board of directors meet every first Friday of each month at 8 P.M. in the Lodge Building (in addition to special called meetings) to make decisions affecting all of us. These meetings are open to all property owners renters, and guest at present attendance by in terested parties at these meetings range from 04 by other than board members yet when a decision is made that does not suit us ab sentee’s we tend to hold little back yard or block get to-gethers with the person talking most becoming the lawyer with more knowledge than any law school could ever offer. We analyze the problem then we each go our own way telling the tale however it best meets our fantasy. Each person told then absorbs all these facts as told and. gets his legal advice from his choice backyard lawyer, and decides to slander the board members (which are not professional politicians, or lawyers but just dedicated individuals) telling someone on the next block of the decision and on and on. With this over the big decision, and the F. Lee Bailey of the Groups decides the best thing to do is rebel by not paying our dues and assessments therefore becoming parasites. Leaving all the existing problems to worsen and ‘then we can really blame the board. The point 1 am trying to get across is “Don’t you think it is time we all started getting in volved in the community by providing inputs at board meetings and hear the facts as they are presented. Some of these decisions are tough. If you still do not desire to become involved. I ask you to support the board we allowed to get elected hy either voting or not voting. Secondly I ask you to con sider paying your dues and assessments rebevuw the board of necessary court actions to collect these which will oaiy lead to further dividiag of the community lastly if you Had this too difficult I do not recall aay of the roads leading ta Cape Coleay being ana way Bobby L. lemdap Route 2, Cape Colony Edenton, N C. 21>tt [ GENUINE IMPORTED stoneware ieiiiMM«iiiw»ioi>w«rtounui| omina w »*a«\ »<«w aw oamanea pwta «* eat* wv Store as apacmca% mm 1 THIS WEEK’S *s°° Purchase A2O-Pc.
