Let John Sl. Holmes High Sch Sol students do Use Job. Among the high school’s vocatkmal coihsqs wttui give students practical, hawk - on trainhw and experience ere those in construction. Receiving instruction end supervision from Lin wood Lewis, in terested students may ewoD in Construction I, n, HI (advanced). Students completing all courses can learn theory and attain skills which enable teem to enter the job market im mediately or which will provide a strong background for further technical training. According to Mr. Lewis, students would like more opportunities to build projects of a permanent nature, as opposed to small construction projects which they build in the shcool’s shop. Because of limited funcfe, these projects, once completed, generally are dismanteled and the materials reused for ai*teer construction destea. The students . have f#nHy completed a utility Murage bam for a com munity resident. The resident supplied the materials and the students supplied the labor at no charge. A project nf this type can be completed by students in class in about a month. AU construction class students help in the construction, with the Construction I students basically doing the rough work and the more ad vanced students doing the finish work. Fish Fry There will be a fish fry, Saturday March 27th, ll A M. till 5 P.M. on the Boy Scout Hut lawn. Plates will consist of trout fish, hush puppies, cole slaw, slice of cake. Sponsored by the LA and Men's Fellowship of the Church of God. Mr. Lewis pointed out that Ww coats frequently equal or surpass that of building materials in a construction project He stated that he and the students would welcome the opportunity for. TOE HOUSE THAT STUDENTS BUILT The above pictured Dutch Colonial style utility storage bam was recently constructed for John Santanna by John A. Holmes High School students. The students, currently enrolled in the school’s vocational program. Construction I, 11, or 111 ( Advanced), completed the community project in a month’s time. Construction I students (Bottom photo) proudly stand beside the completed structure which gave them an op portunity to receive hands-on experience in a permanent structure.
