Page 2-A 4-H Demonstration Held A Pitting and Showmanship Demon stration for Hogs was conducted for the benefit of Chowan 4-H*ers at die John Pippins farm last Wed nesday, by Jack Parkier, Aren livestock Specialist. This was a part of preparation for the 1962 Chowan Junior Livestock Show which will be on April 13, at the American Legion fairground. Parka- stressed the technique of cleaning up a market pig, how to drive a pig in a show ring and how to feed a pig properly. A short quiz about the Market Pig Project was given by Murray L. Goodwin, Agricultural Extension Agent. At tendance at the meeting was good with the following 4- H’ers and FFA members present: Johnny Lowe, Carl Cos ton, Mike Pippins, Anna Goodwin, Valerie Copeland, Dennis Cox, Danny Pippins, Garry Copeland, Karen Cox, Donna Pippins, and Richard Cox. Several future 4-H’ers and FFA members woe on hand to observe the proceedings. J.P. Norman L. Norfleet, dean of in struction, announced this week that 171 students earned the honor. The list represents 12.9 per cent of the 1,325 curriculum students who were enrolled at COA during the winter session. Chowan scholars comprised 6.4 per cent of those receiving recognition.
