Thursday. April 15. 1982 L.C. Martin Lester C. Martin, 70, of W|son, brother of Mrs. H. AiWeeks of Edenton, died Ami 4. A native of Edenton hefWas the husband of Mrs. El§anor Davis Martin and thf son of the late Jason Ccjlenian Martin and Mrs. Etjfa Cherry Martin. He was a -retired District Service Officer for the N.C. Sis Commission and a 9* of the Presbyterian in Wilson. Other survivors include twb daughters, Mrs. Pat Liicas of Whitakers and M|s. Logan Sutton of Wilson; a son, Bowie G. Martin of Wilson; two brpthers, Jack Martin of Tairboro and Van Martin of Ft: Lauderdale, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. Graveside services were held April 6 at 11 A.M. in the Maplewood Cemetary in Wfeon. Maxwell Mrs. Ada Averitte Maxwell, 80, sister of Mrs. J. C. (Eva) Manning of Edenton, died April 5. Funeral services were conducted April 7 at 4 P.M in the Stedman Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Fisher Family Cemetary. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ida Lancaster of New Bern, Mrs. Louise Weeks and Mrs. Mildred Rice, both of Fayetteville; seven sons, John Robert Maxwell, Jr. and David Maxwell, both of Stedman, James Maxwell, Cicero Maxwell, Bill Maxwell, and Danny Maxwell, all of Fayetteville, and Charles Maxwell of Wilmington; 21 grand children and eight great - grandchildren. Information was provided by Swindell - Bass Funeral Home. Allard King Funeral services for Willard Howard King, 67, of I Route 3, who died April 6 were held April 8 at 2:30 P.M. in the Immanuel Baptist Church by Rev. Ash by Browder. Burial followed in the King Family Cemetary near Joppa with Swindell - Bass Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Oscar Peebles, Alvin Hollowell, Pat Harrell, J. c. Lewis, f McCoy Parker and Melvin (Smut) Miller. Peanut Agreement Reached The Columbian Peanut Company, one of the 1 nation’s largest peanut shellers, headquartered in Norfolk, V.A., has an- 1 nounced that an agreement has been reached for Archer Daniels Midland Company in Decatur, 111. to acquire its outstanding stock. Columbian operates 10 shelling mills, 44 buying stations, and two cold storage warehouses in four southern states. Mill locations include Wake field, Va.; Ahoskie, Elizabethtown, Enfield and Scotland Neck, N.C.; Ozark, , Ala. and Bainbridge, Fort ■ Gaines, Pelham and J Shellman, Ga. It is planned that the Columbian Peanut Com pany will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of ADM and that ADM’s present peanut operations will be added to those of Columbian. No change is proposed in the present management, with H. Waller Whittemore remaining as president. Archer Daniels Midland Company is a major processor of agricultural products for the food and feed industies. The company is one of the largest soybean 1 pcoc«sors, corp, millers and Tefmers,’wheat millers; and ■ fuel alcohol producers in the United States. Walker, Harrell Winners Os 4-H Fashion Revue Beverly Walker and Thomas Harrell were selected as the 1982 4-H Spring Fashion Revue winners last Thursday night at the annual Spring Fashion Revue, sponsored by the Agricultural Ex tension Service. The two were chosen from 25 boys and girls who modeled garments before approximately 125 persons attending the show. Both Beverly and Thomas were in the 14-19 age group. Participation forms can be found in the school offices and from the recreation department. Kite Flying Contest - On Saturday, April 17 at 10 A.M. behind John A. Holmes School the Recreation Department will sponsor a Kite Flying Contest. Prizes will be awarded to winners in five catagories. All en tries must be entered by 9:45 on the day of the event.
