the Chowan County 4-H Spring Fashion Revue, accepts a

Belk - Tyler’s. The check will send Miss Walker to clothing
camp in Reedsville, N.C., at Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H Camp April
30 to May 2. There were 55 participants in the Revue.

-CHESAPEAKE, VA.
Mrs. Tncie Cullins Lane,
age 93'Sfef 800 Shell Road
died April 15th in a hospital.
She was a native of Bertie
County, and the widow of
James E. Lane. She was a
member of Deep Creek
Baptist Church.
Survivors include two'
daughters, Mrs. Madia
Boyce of Berlin, Maryland
and Mrs. Elma Bachand of
Chesapeake, Va.; five
grandchildren and 13 great -
grandchildren.
Funeral services were
conducted April 17th at 11
A.M. in the Deep Creek
Baptist Church, Deep
Creek, Va. by the Rev.
Roscoe Musslewhite.
Graveside services were
conducted at l P.M. in
Beaver Hill with Williford -
Barham Funeral Home in
charge of local
arrangements. •
James R. Byrum
James Ruffin Byrum, 66,
of Peru, Indiana died April
12 in Peru.
A native of Bertie County
and a former resident of
Chowan County he was the
husband of Mrs. Louella B.
Byrum of Route 1, Edenton.
He was a former logger and
• a retired merchant and
attended the Assembly of
God Church.
Other survivors include
two daughters, Mrs. Margie
B. Webb of Fountain and
Mrs. Martha Murphy of
Fort Wayne, Indiana; a son,
James L. Byrum of Route 1.
Edenton; two sisters, Mrs.
Allene Sawyer of Windsor
and Mrs. Christine Harrison
of Chesapeake, Virginia;
two half - sisters, Mrs. Mary
Jones of Aulander and Mrs.
Alice Jones of Mur
freesboro; a half - brother,
William “Buddy” Byrum of
Columbia; eight grand
children and three great -
grandchildren.
Funeral services were j
held April 16 at 2 P.M. in the 1
Chapel of the Swindell - Bass I
Funeral Home, Edenton, by i
Rev. Raymond Hoggard.
Burial followed in Beaver ]
Hill Cemetery.
