Page 10-B Holmes High Track Team The John A. Holmes High School girls track team won second place in the N.C. Eastern Sectional track meet. They were only six points away from capturing first place. ‘"Hie girls really put on a show,” said Head Coach Lorraine Jordan. “To practice without a track and to go to meets without support, we really came out on top.” There were 21 teams at the meet and only the top three will advance to the regionals was held at Wilson High School Thurs day, May 13. The following girls qualified to represent John A. Holmes on Thursday: Yolanda Shields, first place, 100 yard hurdles, 15.2; Shields first place 200 yard hurdles 32.2; Wanda Sharpe, second place, discus throw, 95 feet 2 inches: Carolyn Armstead second place, 100 yard dash, 12.5; Armstead, 200 yard dash 26.5, second place; Ruth Sutton second place, 400 yard run, 102.2; Eugena Moore third place 400 yard run, 107.7; Angela Anthony, third place 800 dash 2:39.1. In relay events these were finalists: Diane Nixon, Sharpe, Shields, and Arm stead placed second in the 400 yard relay with a time of 53.2. Sutton, Moore, Lillian Carter and Joyce Harrell placed third in the Mile relay. Their time was 4:29.3. Spring Revival Spring Revival will begin May 24 - 28 at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 214 West Church Street, according to Dr. J.L. Fenner, Sr., pastor. Dr. W.T. Bigelow, pastor of the Greater Saint Paul Baptist Church, in Durham will be the guest evangelist. Dr. Bigelow is the national evangelist for the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc., and a recording artist, best known by his prayer records. Services will begin nightly at 7:30 o’clock. There will be a different singing group each night from various churches. Starting off Monday night will be the Edenton Community Male Chorus of Edenton, North Carolina. The public is cordially invited.
