Holmes High School. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage a graduate of Chowan County to study in the area of Sight and Human Tissue or a related field. Miss Karen Deneen Roberts was presented this scholarship by C.B. Smith, President of The Edenton Lions Club on Friday, May 28, 1982. The Club has high hopes that this scholarship will be given yearly. Miss Roberts, a senior, will be attending East Carolina University next fall. Eugene Rascoe is their FFA advisor. These young men are fast gaining a reputation as an entertainment group. They have appeared in 15 events and have 5 more to come. At Holmes School Awards program last Friday morning, they were awarded the Male Choral Award. Darryl has won a vocal scholarship at College of the Albemarle. Two new members were inducted by Governor Taylor - E.C. Toppin and Bill Elliott. Two new members were proposed to club by Wilbur Hare - Ernie Stone and Paul Odom.
