Symphony Discussed With James Ogle
Local civic leaders were
treated to an evening of Tea
and Symphony with James
Ogle, associate conductor of
the North Carolina Sym
phony, last week. Ogle’s
sincerity was obvious as he
praised the Edentonians for
their response to the
symphony’s visit in
January.
He expressed excitement
at the challenge of tailoring
one of the student concerts
to a high school audience, as
the local symphony board
has pledged to provide them
their one performance this
year.
Ogle then explained that,
while the symphony does
receive some state support,
it’s not nearly enough to
meet the high costs of
providing the quality con
. certs North Carolina
residents can expect from
their symphony. He stressed
Pastor Norman Gloeckler
and youth leader Judy
Lawrence.
