East Recognized For Budget Votes WASHINGTON, D.C. Sen. John East, R—N.C., has been named “The Taxpayers’ Best Friend” by the National Taxpayers Union for his votes to reduce federal spending. The title was awarded to East based on NTU‘s annual congressional spending study which ranks members of Congress on how often they vote for reduced federal expenditures. The study of 231 Senate roll call votes showed East voted for reduced spending 69 per cent of the time, the 12th highest score in the Senate.
