Winslow, Sr. The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. For her wedding day, the bride chose a gown of organza and lace designed with an original oval sculptured neckline. The fitted bodice gently jeweled with seed pearls was accentuated with open back detail. The skirt was enhanced with layers of ruffled flounced which extended into a chapel length train. Her chapel length veil of illusion was flattered with matching lace. A pearl necklace borrowed from her aunt, Mrs. Excell Markham, complimented her attire beautifully. o Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Sheila Ward of Hobbsville, and vocalist Mrs. Barbara L. Bridesmaids were Ms. LuAnn Chappell of Winfall, Mrs. Deane Winslow, sister in-law of the bride, and Miss Florence Berryman of Hobbsville. Miss Stephanie Powers and Master Jeffrey Powers were the minature bride and groom for their uncle. Junior ushers were Cale Ward and Jody Ward of Hobbsville. Flowers were done by Pritchards Florist and the wedding attire was at tributed to the Bride and Groom. Don Bunch was photographer. A reception in the church fellowship hall was held immediately following the ceremony. After a wedding trip to the World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee, the couple will make their home in Belvidere. On May 15, the bride and her mother were guest at the Golden Corral in Elizabeth City for a lun cheon given by Mrs. Christine White and Miss Cindy White. Miss Ruthie Layden treated the bride to lunch at the Pizza Hut in Elizabeth City on May 24. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Proctor aunt and unde of the bride and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Proctor gave a cookout for the bride and groom and their families at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Proctor on May 24. On June 5, Mrs. Erma Chappell, Mrs. Dorothy Chappell, Mrs. Sybil Ward, and Mrs. Kaye Bunch prepared a luncheon for the bride and her attendants at the home of Mrs. Erma Chappell. On the night of the rehearsal, Mrs. Jarvis D. Winslow, Sr, Mother of the groom gave the rehearsal dinner for her son’s wedding party at the Holiday Inn in Elizabeth City. Of ficiating ministers were the Rev. Larry McClure and the Rev. Donald Wagner. The double-ring ceremony was performed in a setting of white gladioli, pom-poms, fugi mums, calla fillies, palms and candle light. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman L. Ashley of Edenton. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry M. Phillips of Edenton. Mrs. Mary Smith presented a program of organ music and Mrs. Anne McClure was soloist. Mrs. Lorene Bunch, aunt of the bride,;, and, Mr/s, Dopna Peele, cousin of the bride, served as mistresses of ceremony. Miss Rebecca Harrell, cousin of the bride, distributed programs. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a silk organza gown featuring a Queen Anne neckline and fitted bodice of silk venise lace and pearls. The full skirt featured a back panel and flounce of schiffli embroidery and silk venise Thursday, June 17. 1982 lace with attached chapel train. The gown was com plemented by a chapel length veil of bridal illusion edged with schiffli em broidery attached to a camelot head piece. She carried a silk cascade of white roses, stephanotis, lily of the valley, ivy and fern. Mrs. Belva Biggs of Edenton, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a crystal pleated sea spray green dress of lustreglo polyester, with spaghetti straps and a sheer jacket with silk venise lace trim. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Amy Nixon, sister of the bridegroom, of Edenton, Mrs. Alice Blapch&rd „at Belvidere, v Awto Miss Angela Bunch, cousin of the bride, of Greensboro. They wore dresses identical to that of the matron of honor. They all carried white lace fans with an attached bouquet of silk pastel flowers. Scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 26 and 27, at Evans, Jaycee, and Guy Smith Parks, the event is described as a “showcase of teamwork and community involvement” and will draw softball enthusiasts from all across Eastern North Carolina. Last year’s Marathon attracted some 70 teams and generated nearly $18,500 for Easter Seals programs.
