Hopkins and his wife, Mary, plan to relocate in Winter Haven, Fla., around August L He said they have chosen that location for retirement for health reasons. Hopkins came to Edenton in May, 1956, as partner in a furniture business. He had been in the retail furniture business since 1945, having been associated with a Arm in Plymouth for nine years prior to moving to Edenton. Between 1958 and 1962 he was a salesman at Albemarle Ford. He was promoted to sales manager in 1962 and later became an officer in the corporation, headed by Bruce F. Jones. A native of Tyrrell County, his first public job was in Winston - Salem as an agent with Home Security Life Insurance Company. He was a staff manager when he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943. He was discharged in 1945. Hopkins was a charter member of the Plymouth Jaycees in 1946. He served as secretary, treasurer, vice president, president and state director. He received the community service award in 1948 and the next year was named recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the N.C. Jaycees a year later. During his employment at Albemarle Ford, Hopkins received numerous sales honors. He headed the Tidewater Ford Truck Club from 1962 until 1965. Mrs. Hopkins is the for mer Mary Nooney of Plymouth. Adams Wins Recognition Kevin Cook of Route 1, Tyner, a student in Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at Pitt Com munity College in Green ville, N.C., has received recognition by being on the Dean’s List for the Fall and Spring quarters and the Honor Roll for the Winter quarter. Lt. C.R. Adams Completes OCS FORT BRAGG Second Lieutenant Calvin Ray Adams of Merry Hill, N.C., completed the North Carolina National Guard Officer Candidate School at Fort Bragg and was com missioned a second lieutenant on 19 June 1982. The course consisted of 366 hours of instruction covering such subjects as small unit tactics, map reading, weapons, methods of instruction, com munication, unit ad ministration and leadership training. 2LT Adams is a member of Company C, Ist Battalion, 119th Infantry of the North Carolina Army National Guard in Edenton, N.C. 2LT Adams and his wife, Teressa, have a home at Route 1, Box 225, Merry Hill, N.C. 2LT Adams is a farmer. Current furniture designs usually date back to about the fifteenth century. Honor Roll Mr. Rob Boyce, Principal, John A.
