Page 8-A The Bandon Chapel Notebook " Hi, Neighbors! Monday was my wedding an niversary! Anniversaries always open up the storehouse of one’s mind and bring to light well loved people and events, some happy, others sad. I’m happy and grateful that the Lord has blessed me with a loving husband and family. Our son, David, designed and partially built us a Gazebo at his home, then our boys, David’s family and his friend came down last Wednesday and put it up for our anniversary! To me, it’s beautiful, especially when I think of all the love and hard work that went into it. Then, I thought about my Dad’s youngest brother, my favorite uncle, Paul. When he arrived at any function, everyone felt his presence - he was so full of life, his enthusiasm was contagious! He loved to sing, laugh, have a good time and see others happy. One of his favorite expressions was “Heaven’s my home - I’m just here on a visit”. I can still hear the hurt in his voice and sadness in his eyes the day he told me his voice box would have A FUN NEW KOOL-AID'RECIPE 'h teaspoon Kooi-Aid * Brand 2 tablespoons sugar Unsweetened Soft Drink cup water Mix. any flavor cup milk Dissolve soft drink mix and sugar in water in glass. I’d like to share this poem with you entitled “Now is the Time” by Marion Schoeberiein: “I may not pass this way again, Lord, let me stop awhile To help some stranger on the way and make somebody smile! I may not pass this way again, Lord, let me find the poor And give them food and show them love and lead them to Thy door! I may not pass this way again, Lord, let me love and give And do according to Thy will while on this earth I live. Saturday night the rain gave Mother Earth a good soaking and on this Lord’s Day, the air smelled fresh, the lawns seemed greener and the flowers held their pretty heads high. ‘Twas a beautiful day to enter the church of your choice to thank God for His countless blessings. Supt. Meta Mason beamed as she joyfully welcomed the large group assembled at Bandon Chapel for Sunday School, especially our visitors. They were treated to a powerful lesson by Wm. F. Smith entitled “Apollos: A Learning Teacher”, Acts 18:24 - 28; 1 Cor. 3:5 - 9. Bible truth brought out was that true Christian teaching is Christ - centered rather than per sonality oriented. Prayer List: When we pray, we ask that God’s Will be done for only He knows what is best for us. Please add our friends to your prayer list. My friend, Connie Snell (also daughter - in - law of Meta Mason) entered Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth, Va. on Monday for possible surgery. Pray for our Nation, its people, and that God will guide the decisions made by its leaders; remember our missionnaries and our Pastor, Rev. Robert S. Harrell and his family. At the Prayer Meeting & Bible Study on Wednesday nights in Fellowship Hall, conducted by Pastor Bob, we are studying Christian Doctrines and Beliefs. This is a learning process and most interesting and in formative. One does not have to be a member of Bandon to attend. These meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about the subject and they are sincerely invited to attend. Try it, you’ll like it! At our Worship Service, Bandon’s Shepard, Rev. Robert S. Harrell, brought a most inspiring message entitled “Light of the World”, based on John 3:16- 21. At the Congregational Meeting Sunday a Nominating Committee was selected to bring in a slate of officers for the coming year. They are: Clayton Inskeep;' Judy Faye Nelson; and Bobbie Hitt; with Dave Lapham and Butch Smith representing the Deacons. Kent Rowley and Jackson Strickland have been assigned the task of selecting nominees for new Deacons. If any of the above approach you to hold an office, remember God ex pects us to use the talents He gave us for His Glory. —O— A hearty welcome is extended to our first timers this week: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Manning and children, Jeff, John and Larry, who are new residents of Arrowhead Beach; Mrs. Ethel Gwaltney of Suffolk, Va., mother of Jean Johnson; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stephens, North Port, Fla., guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Hendricks; Mrs. Myrtle Harris, guest of Mrs. Jessie Hitt; and Miss Denise Armao, Chesapeake, Va., guest of Vicky Nelson. We hope you enjoyed our ser vices and will return again soon. Sand Dunes A sand dune isn’t just something you climb over, it’s a very important piece of natural engineering, according to the N.C. Office of Coastal Management. Dunes trap sand, absorb storm energy and protect inland areas from flooding. Visitors should use walk ways over the dunes whenever possible and protect the beach grasses which help stabilize these important natural buffers on our coast.
