during Peanut Festival.

Several works will be
performed on October 2 at
11:30 A.M. in the Holmes
Auditorium. Among them
are “Company Audition”, a

On September 24, Virginia
Beach Community Ballet
will be the featured com
pany at the First Annual
Virginia Beach Dance
Festival to be held in the
Kempsville Recreation
Center.

A special treat is in store
for visitors to the Chowan
County Fair on Tuesday
night at 8:30. Six girls
representing five counties
will be competing for the
Northeast Pork Queen
crown.
The event is being co -
ordinated by the Northeast
Pork Council and is spon
sored by the Fair
Association and the
following feed companies:
Cargill Nutrena, Wayne,
Rich Square Pre - mix, and
Ralston Purina.
The contestants are:
Debra Ann Alons from Hyde
County, Cheryl Faye
Stallings and Donna
Patricia Elliott from
Perquimans county, Debbie
Lynn Jordan from Chowan
County, Esther Dale Adams
from Bertie county, and
Deborah Kay Suter from
Tyrrell county. Each con
testant will be observed by
the judges at a dinner party,
during private interviews,
in evening gown com
petition, and at the
presentation of a three
minute oral essay. They will
be judged on beauty,

cookout and get acquainted

Reta Jones for judges and
contestants. Private in
terviews and a drawing for
the order of contest ap
pearances will be held at
this time (casual clothes).
7:15-7:30 - American
Legion Fairgrounds - Main
stage area - Contest briefing
and last minute in
structions.
7:30-8:30 - Prepare for
contest.
8:30-9:30 - On main stage.
Three minute oral
presentations by con
testants in order decided by
drawing. Evening dress
appearances. Oral question
and answer. Judges’
decision. Crowning of the
1982 Northeast Pork Queen.

square dance lessons.
