Page 12-A _ Obituaries Grady Vaughan Mr. Lassie Grady Vaughan, 69, of Edenton ■died Wednesday, October 13 after an extended illness at the Chowan Hospital. Mr. Vaughan was a retired mechanic for the Harrington Manufacturing Company and a member of the Cape Colony Free Will Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Mrs. ■ Blannie Brown Vaughan and the late William Arthur Vaughan. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Sarah Nowell Vaughan. He had two sons; Jimmy E. Vaughan of Scotland Neck and Jeffery Vaughan of the home; and two daughters; Mrs. Sarah Knoone of Advance. N.C. and Mrs. Frances Runion of Edenton. He is also survived by one brother William Arthur Vaughan, Jr. of Roxobel, N.C. and one sister Mrs. Elsie Conner of Aulander, N.C. OF EDENTON INC. Services were held at the Cape Colony Free Will Baptist Church on Friday, October 15 by the Rev. Ronnie Mohn and the Rev. Gordan Massey. Burial was in Roxobel-Kelf ord Cemetery in Bertie County. Ellen Joseph Mrs. Ellen Bond Joseph, age 79, of Route 3, Edenton, died Friday in the Chowan Hospital following a short illness. A native of Chowan County she was the daughter of the late Hosie L. and Mrs. Francis Small Bond and the wife of William J. Joseph. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Surviving besides her husband is one daughter, Mrs. Anne D. Anderson of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Bailey of Norfolk, Va.; four brothers, Clifton Bond, Frank Bond, Willie Bond and Murray (Buck) Bond, all of Edenton; two grand children and three great - grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 P.M. in the Williford - Barham Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Charles Harris. Burial followed in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Virginia Rea Mrs. Virginia Harris Rea, 83, Route 2, Edenton, died in the Chowan Hospital Monday. She was a native of South Hampton County, Va. She was the widow of William Delight Rea and the daughter of the late Ben jamin and Lula Cutler Harris. She was a retired private duty nurse and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Lee Patrick of Anchorage, Alaska; Mrs. Lula Ella Long of Edenton and one step daughter Mrs. Eula Catherine Cline, of Newport News, Va. Seven sons, William Franklin Rea, from Va. Beach, Va.; Edgar Allen Rea, Moneta, Va.; THE CHOWAN HERAT f n Earl Meredith Rea, Edenton; William Delight Rea, Jr., Belvidere; Merrian Harris Rea, Ports mouth, Va.; Carl Jean Rea, Edenton; James Reid Rea, Lynchburg, Va. Two sisters, Mrs. Maude Brombacker, Milford, N.J.; and Mrs. Edith Claudat, Hanford, Calif. One brother, Edward Clyde Harris, Richmond, Va. and 44 grandchildren, 49 great - grandchildren and 7 great - great - grand children. Funeral services were held Wednesday, 2 P.M., Williford - Barham Funeral Home Chapel by Larry Cahoon and Jack Cahoon with burial in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Dorothy Wright Mrs. Dorothy Kate Up legrove Wright, 78, of Onawa, lowa died in the Chowan Hospital Monday. She was a native of Little Sue, lowa. She was the widow of Walter F. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Onawa, lowa. Other survivors in clude three sons, David O. Wright, M.D., of Edenton; Capt. Walter F. Wright, Jr„ of Lincoln Nebraska; and Col. Robert E. Wright of Washington, D.C. She had two nieces, Natalie Peters and Marlene Stanford and one nephew, Jim Williams. She also had seven grand children. Mrs. Wright will be salt from the Williford - Barham Funeral Home to Onawa, lowa for a funeral. Elmer Gray ' Mr. Elmer Maynard Gray, 63, Route 2, Edenton, died in the Chowan Hospital Monday. He was a native of Pitt County and was the son of the late Ernest and Mrs. Sally Stocks Gray. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are: five daughters, Mrs. Melba Overton, Hertford; Mrs. Mae Rogers, Tarboro; Mrs. Faye Jernigan, Mrs. Louise Byrum, and Mrs. Frances Denton all of Edenton. Five sisters, Miss Ruby Gray, Goldsboro, Mrs. Jane Crawford, Mrs. Ruth Flake, and Mrs. Bessie Gray all from Winterville; and Mrs. Gladys Nichols of Belle Arthur. Three brothers, Brunis Gray, and Willie Gray from Green ville; Raymond Gray from Farmville and half brother, Bobby Gray from Vance boro. He had 17 grand children. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 P.M. in the Williford - Barham Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Robert Kelly with burial in Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford.
